Summer wasn't really sure when exactly this had happened, but, apparently, according to him, Tino had always been an aggressive Connect Four player, and he was leaning into it that evening hard by posting up a couple of the games and promising that, if anyone managed to beat him, they could have their drinks for free tonight.

She agreed to play one game with him, and she was pretty sure it was the most aggressive round of a game pretty much meant for children she had ever played without anything actually exploding. Tino did, in fact, win, and more easily than she would have liked to have admitted, and she might have gone for a rematch if he wasn't being so obnoxiously braggadocios about how swiftly and smartly he'd beaten her.

She almost warned him to chill, that it was just a game, but she could already tell that that could just end up in a lot of Connect Four boards being upended from the bar, and she did not want to deal with that.

"It's a small island," Stark said, nodding. "Easy enough to know everyone at least a little. Welcome. I'm Stark."

"Adrian Blackwood," he said, glancing down at Stark's hands for the telltale tattoos and rings of a warlock.

Look, he had a very distinctive aesthetic and it wasn't unlike something a warlock would wear!

No rings and no tattoos! Stark was of the opinion those were too much like a brand though he did have an appreciation for them on other people.

He held out a tentative hand to shake. "Good to meet you, Adrian."

No, no, that was a wise decision, Stark. Stick with it. Adrian approved.

"I do hope so!" Adrian said, eyes flicking back up to Stark's and offering a boyishly handsome smile. "I'm hoping to be a good neighbor and resident here. Everyone I've met for far seems very friendly!"

Except the snarky one, but theirs seemed to be a budding 'the grumpy one and the sunshine one' friendship!

...Yelena might deny the 'friendship' part. Typical grumpy one behavior.

"It's a good place here," Stark said, smiling back. He'd said that to so many people, so many times.

"With good people. Usually friendly, yes."

He hadn't met the snarky new one or the grouchy new one yet.

"How did you end up here? Unless you don't want to say. You don't have to."

"I took a plane here," Adrian said, looking a little confused at the question. "And then we drove over a causeway." In a ridiculous car that broke apart beneath them. "Do most people take a ferry, or...?"

"Oh, some people just...appear," Stark said vaguely. "But some just come across the causeway. Or there are ships, sometimes."

Or very vague wormhole nonsense.

"And there are the portals."

"...Portals?"

Stark nodded. "Portals. From Portalocity? With the gnomes. They're very useful."

"Portalocity?" he asked. "Like the lounge at the airport?"
