Summer wasn't really sure when exactly this had happened, but, apparently, according to him, Tino had always been an aggressive Connect Four player, and he was leaning into it that evening hard by posting up a couple of the games and promising that, if anyone managed to beat him, they could have their drinks for free tonight.

She agreed to play one game with him, and she was pretty sure it was the most aggressive round of a game pretty much meant for children she had ever played without anything actually exploding. Tino did, in fact, win, and more easily than she would have liked to have admitted, and she might have gone for a rematch if he wasn't being so obnoxiously braggadocios about how swiftly and smartly he'd beaten her.

She almost warned him to chill, that it was just a game, but she could already tell that that could just end up in a lot of Connect Four boards being upended from the bar, and she did not want to deal with that.

Adrian relaxed a little. "Good," he said with a nod. "Glad to hear it. A fitting end for such a thing."

Hey. Hey. Hey. Logan was the one with main character syndrome here. Just look at all the movies they shoved him in.

"It just made these... sparkly circles. To teleport through."

Not at all a deus ex machina to move the plot along or anything.

Oh no! Adrian wasn't even the main character of his book! That was this beautiful reincarnated demon princess with a vendetta against the demigod who had taken over heaven, murdered her mother, captured her sisters, and enslaved her people!

Adrian looked confused about that, and then shrugged. "I don't really know what sorcerer magic can do," he admitted. "I just know how it does and how it's powered and that's good enough for me."

...wow. Hey, Adrian. Adrian, come here. Come here. What in the actual fuck?

"How is it powered?" Yes, explain this so he could judge Stephen Strange should he ever end up meeting the man.

"With quintessence from Gilgamesh," Adrian pronounced, like he'd said 'the souls of puppies and the dreams of a happy home from orphan children, BUT WORSE.'

Logan just sipped his whiskey and considered that. "I have no fucking clue what that means."

And he did not care to learn!

Adrian leaned forward, looking deeply into Logan's eyes.

"The fuck are you doing?"

If this was a telepathy thing, he was gonna be so annoyed, Adrian! Just dramatically touch your temple like a normal person!

"You don't have scales over your eyes, either!" Adrian said, leaning back out of Logan's personal space and marveling. "Are everyone's eyes here open? They must be - otherwise the zombies alone would be kicking everybody left and right." He laughed. "This has to be a parallel dimension. There's no way Gilgamesh would just let an entire island exist like this."

"Yeah, welcome to the multiverse or whatever the hell it's supposed to be." Look, he only half paid attention when Wade went on that rant at the other Deadpools about how it wasn't working and they needed to stop trying.

"The multiverse?" Adrian looked at Logan, all rapt attention now. "How about this? I buy you another drink and you tell me what you mean by that and what you know about this place, since my expectations are woefully out of line."

"You buy me a bottle and maybe." Jokes on you, he had a rudimentary grasp on his situation!

"Two drinks, but from the higher shelf," Adrian countered.

"Fine." Life was conspiring against him to keep him from falling into old habits, it seemed.

Fate could suck it.

Adrian was a Witch of the Flesh! He worried about your liver!

But not enough to gesture to Tino to refill Logan's drink and pour out another with a better version of whatever it was he'd been drinking already - and a refill of his cocktail as well.

"Okay, so, multiverse?"

It would regenerate! It was a thing!

Logan downed that first drink in one go and tapped the table to get his second before Adrian changed his mind. Just really enjoying that fancy whiskey. Oh so fancy. "Different universes or whatever. All I know is I got pulled out of mine because the me in this one died."

Chestfucked by a tree, to put it in the eloquent words of Wade Wilson.

"And there's places outside all that shit where people get put when they don't play nice with the system."

"So...all the parallel universes tied up with a bow?" Adrian asks, trying to put Logan's, ah, brusque explanations into a useful framework. "Places outside...?"

The drinks were his. No take-backs.

"The void," he said with all due dirision. "Where people go when they get pruned."

Sony. Sony, don't get comfortable. You keep producing shit like Morbious and Madam Webb and it won't be Morbin' time anymore. Disney will own your ass.

"Like...Limbo?" Adrian hazarded, since he didn't know anything about voids, and his only experience with pruning involved his garden.

Well, think of that, but with people! It's really simple. They for sure didn't put that much into the whole backstory of it. It was kind of like Lost, but back before everyone guessed the mystery and they had to scramble to keep people on their toes.

"How should I know? I'm not a priest."

But that probably triggered some thirst trap oh him in a priest collar online somewhere. Dirty, dirty fans.
