The Devil's Nest, Monday Night

Eric came into the bar tonight to find Tiny in a black body suit and a jack-o-latern on his head, dancing. "It's not October until tomorrow," he said, sounding deeply tired.

The Devil's Nest was open. The bartender was jazzed about spooky seaoson. The vampire was drinking bourbon and trying to avoid making eye contact with whatever it was Tiny was doing now.

Jaina gaped. "Seriously? Huh. Didn't see that one coming."

"Or Lucifer did something, but I like to think it's the exorcist," Eric said.

"I don't know any better and therefore I will believe your story," Jaina said, like a supportive ex-type person.

"And that's why I'm always happy to see you," Eric said, winking.

"Glad to hear it," Jaina grinned. "How've you been, horrifying song exorcisms aside?"

"Bored," Eric said. "Do you need me to kill anyone in space?"

"Couldn't say, I leave those decisions to the husband."

Well that was dark, Jaina.

"Not enough fun happening here?"

Eric sighed dramatically (since he didn't breathe). "Tiny is the most interesting part of my week."

"Okay, we can't have that," Jaina said. "No recent beheadings or anything?"

She was a really good Jedi. Better than most. But there were cultural differences at play here.

"Well, I went back home for a bit in September," Eric said, "but there was only a few people who needed to be...course-corrected."

"Well, we have to fix the boredom. Without all the killing here, that would not go well."

Everyone had weapons, it was a whole thing.

"It would not," Eric agreed with another smirk.

"Do I need to come back more?" Jaina asked.

"I will never say no to that," Eric said, then added teasingly, "but I would make a terrible stepfather, so tell Jag not to fret."

"I love you, but absolutely not," she smiled. "He trusts me, anyway."

"That makes him smart," Eric said.

"I actually have meant to be coming back more," she admitted. "But you know. Life."

"I do know," Eric agreed. "What drink can Tiny make for you?"

"Vodka tonic," she said. "Still not making the drinks, huh?"

"Hardly ever," Eric said without a trace of remorse. "I don't like most of you that much."

"That might be contributing to the boredom," she noted.

Eric thought about it, then shook his head. "I never want to wait on humans."

"Fair. Though I also liked bartending," she said.
