Logan hadn't been bad about going to work. No, no. Don't be silly. He hadn't avoided the hell out of the place after randomly being there as a kid. That would be silly.

Except how he had.

But now he was back to normal. Well. 'Normal.' Or whatever. And there was a new flag that he sure as hell didn't recognize, but it was there.

Kitty actually has shopping reasons to be here, and it was just lucky that it was Logan's day. Which she didn't know till she walked through the wall to come in.

"Oh hey."

Did she? Did she?

"Hi," Logan said, definitely not annoyed he couldn't nap here now.

"Do you get to help me shop?" she teased.

[theworst_verine]

"Do you want me to?" He'd be the worst at picking a book, Kitty. You had to know that.

"I almost do for the lulz now, she admitted.

"The what?" Old man yells at cloud. News at eleven.

"Funsies."

Now she was being a brat.

She really was! But that was sort of what Logan needed in his life always. Even if he sighed and looked up at the ceiling like it could save him.

"What did you want?"

"Something dumb and mindless for myself, and also something that might be appropriate for a six-year-old."

She just added that last part on now. They already had so many books.

If you thought he wouldn't pull something random off of the shelf...

"I don't really think I'm the one to ask for a six year old," Logan said after hesitating. He was who you called to swear at a six year old and kill people on their behalf, honestly.

"You might surprise yourself," she said.

"Let's just agree to disagree on that one."

Did you want him to teach your daughter to swear a lot? He could do that.

That would probably happen anyway, let's be real.

"We'll see," she said. "What about the mindless books for adults?"

"People seem to like those," he said, gesturing at the sparkly vampire books.

"Hmm. Ever read them?"

She totally already had, but maybe he could surprise her!

"No." He'd pretend he couldn't read to get out of it too!

"You don't have to say it like that, it's a valid question," she told him.

He super did too!

"Have you?"

"Yes. And watched the movies, all of it is terrible. It's great," she said.

"They made a movie of that shit?" Oh, now he was just asking to be invited to watch it.

"Five. There are only four books. If you want to make fun of one with me..."

Don't watch them seriously. Just don't.

"There isn't enough alcohol on the island for that."

See, he said that and someone out there took it as a challenge.

They damn well should.

"What are you doing for fun these days?" Kitty wondered. "Because dumb stuff can be fun."

"I go to that supper club thing." He did not go frequently enough for that to be the case.

"Please don't let that be it," she said.

"That's enough." It super, super wasn't, but okay.

"You should come over."

Watch a terrible movie.

"Right now?" He was working! Kind of.

[throughaphase]

"No, I'm shopping right now," she said. "Later later."

"Fine. Later." Never. Please forget, Kitty.

That wouldn't happen, everybody knows it.

"I'll have my people call your people." Meaning she'd harass him personally till he did it.

It really would be the best method for this. "Who are you going to call? Flint? I don't think he even has a phone."

Kitty rolled her eyes. "It's a saying. Is Flint your people?"

"I mean. He pays me."

Also didn't ask any questions. That part was pretty great.

He wasn't mentioning Wade or Laura who for sure were his people. Because they weren't here and it'd be weird.

"Yeah, it's definitely be weird to go through your boss to arrange a hangout."

A play date, of sorts.

Logan sighed and rolled his eyes. "Don't call anyone to hang out with me. How about that?"

"To watch a bad movie."

Logan, Logan, Logan. Don't threaten her with a good time!

"It doesn't make sense now, but that's why you give things a chance. You might even-" She paused, her expression very wait for it.... "-laugh at something."

"Now you're asking for too much." Oh god, was he playing along?
