Steven was at work nice and early that morning. The walk over had been brisk, both in terms of temperature and how quickly he'd done it.

Once inside he made himself a nice hot cup of tea and settled down to going through the mail. There were various brochures about things that could be bought to enhance displays and the like. Steven didn't know if Blathers would be interested in them - the ones for insects were highly likely to be a no - but it couldn't hurt to at least skim and see if there was anything that stood out as having potential.

He was, of course, interruptible for any visitors.

And at lunchtime, there was one such visitor!

"Hello, you," he greeted.

Steven looked up with a smile. Then he took his glasses off and smiled more. "Hello, you. My favorite visitor."

"Here to ensure my favourite employee takes his break at the proper time," Watts said, coming over to the desk.

Steven grinned. "Your favorite employee, am I? I like the sound of that."

"By far," Watts nodded. "Mr. Blathers is a nice enough fellow, but it's you I'm sweet on."

Steven ducked his head, pleased. "I like that. Sweet. You're sweet as well, you know. Rather fond of you, actually."

"Do tell me more, Steven Grant," Watts said.

"When I see you my heart feels lighter," Steven said. He put the sign out to say he was going to take lunch. "Day feels brighter as well."

"Even when it's overcast?" Watts asked curiously, his hat joining the sign and his arm held out for Steven to take.

Steven took the offered arm gladly. "What better time to need brightness?"

"Suppose that's true," Watts acknowledged. "An already-sunny day, then."

"Then you are my own personal sunshine," Steven said. "Very special indeed."

"Poet," Watta said fondly, bumping his shoulder against Steven's.

Steven thought about it. "The day is fine, one might say divine, when visited by your own personal sunshine."

His efforts got a delighted peal of laughter out of Watts. "I do love you so," he declared.

Steven beamed proudly. "You liked it? I know it's not as clever as one of yours."

"I beg to differ, when it comes to wordplay your skills are far superior to mine."

[hasaknightjob]

"I was thinking poems," Steven clarified. He did have to acknowledge he did more wordplay than Llewellyn after all. "Your poems are always so romantic."

"More often than not I am merely quoting someone else's words," Watts pointed out.

[hasaknightjob]

"Not that," Steven said. "That - I like that as well. Please keep doing it. But a poetic turn of phrase, I mean. You say things so sweetly."

"Oh, well," Watts reached up to scratch at his chin, only belatedly remembering his free hand held their lunch bag. His hand dropped back to his side. "That just... slips out, you see. No control there."

"That makes it all the more remarkable, you ask me," Steven said. "That it comes natural."

"Yes, well, thank you." Watts said. "You do inspire it in me."

"We're each other's muse," Steven said. "I like that."

"Another way we're well-suited for each other," Watts pointed out as they reached their usual spot and he let go of Steven's arm to pull his chair out for him.
