Groovy Tunes; Thursday [03/06].

Stewart knew he should be spending a good portion of his day at the shop this week preparing for another Open Mic Night, since it was the first Thursday of the month, even if it did feel like pretty fake that they were already in March.

But he honestly was getting distracted far too often with peeling off the sunburn he'd gotten while in Barbados last week, quite often with a sigh.

He'd really tried, too, lurking in whatever shadows he could find while they were there, but even he and his impressive skulking skills was no match for the tropical sunshine.

Eventually, he'd run out of peeling skin, though, and get back to work and setting things up, and kicking the stereo sometimes because while he liked the song, he really didn't appreciate that this particular Orbital remix had decided to live up to its name today.

Because you're in the market for some music or some instruments or you lost your airpods again and need to replace them!

The Halcyon (and On and On) is still playing, but it should stop once people start taking to the stage.

Charlie was here before and after her set, ready to chat and listen to some good - and most likely some not so good - music!

Belle arrived after her library shift, glad to see someplace not full of bats and gremlins.

Though she was wondering if bat-themed performers might exist somewhere. Perhaps even sparkly ones? Something to look into.

Graham loved the first Thursday of the month! It was so nice to get out somewhere he didn't usually go altogether see his friends and listen to music! Charlie's performances were always so good, and Stewart's always made him want to dance. What more could you want for an evening out and about?

"Sir Knight! Looking forward to the music? Do you think anyone new might perform?"

"My good lady!" Graham greeted back, with a big smile and a tip of his adventure's cap. He bowed his head and then fit it snugly back into place. "You know I am! I'm always looking forward to hearing what Charlie and Stewart play! Although, I have to admit, it would be pretty exciting, if someone else joined them, too! I asked Triumph if he'd be interested, but he said he'd like to work on something a little more before trying, so hopefully next month!"

He didn't want to think about the fact that he only had a few of these left before he had to return to Daventry again after graduation.

"How about you? Are you excited, too?"

"I would be thrilled to see Triumph perform!"

The cuteness level might be too much though.

"Perhaps you two could perform together?"

That would not cut down on the adorableness.

"I'm looking forward to tonight's performances as well. Stewart is always introducing new songs and artists. I really should ask him for recommendations one of these nights."

"Oh, it would definitely be a duo act!" Graham assured her. "That was the whole idea! Best friends, performing together! But I think he's honestly a little shy about it..."

Was it Triumph who was shy about it, Graham? Really?

"...but I'm sure he'll warm up to it! We've got a whole month to work on something, so I think we'll definitely be ready to hit the stage in April! And, yeah, you should! His music is always so different, and he makes it with all that equipment. I know I don't understand a lot of that stuff, but it really makes it feel like magic, you know? I should maybe try to catch him sometimes, too. I don't know why I don't more often."

It really was a mystery.

"If Triumph needs encouragement I would be happy to help him find his confidence," Belle offered.

Triumph. Mmm-hmmm.

"You two could practice for me!"

And yes, it certainly was a mystery why Graham and Stewart didn't interact often.

Stewart had to admit, it was still somewhat disheartening that it seemed to be just the same three people that kept showing up to these things, but at least one of them was also performing, and it was still an audience.

It definitely reminded him that the main reason he really did this was just because he wanted to hit those tables.

Arden had missed the last couple of these, but she was here today, ready to cheer for all the performers.

Get on up and perform! That's the whole point!

Well, watching others perform is also a factor, but there'd be no one to watch and listen to if no one got up to do it.

Charlie was playing, of course. What was she playing? Oh, it shifted around. A little punk, a little Celtic folk, and even a silly ballad or two.

Stewart was starting his set this month with a relatively straight playing of MARINA's new release Butterfly....up until around the minute-thirty mark, where he started to merge that lift in her voice at her own butterflies with a take on smile.dk's Dance Dance Revolution classic Butterfly that really kicked it up to the level that his ragtag audience had no doubt come to expect from him. He stuck with that for a while, before he obviously had to bleed into yet another Butterfly that none of these kids would probably even appreciate...and what was that? Afterwards? Another Butterfly! Were you noticing the trend yet? But that last one was way too mainstream, it needed a little of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard to bring it back to weird, and, on the Wings of a Butterfly, he was going to lead them back to MARINA to bring them full circle.

This song has been stuck in my head for a fucking week now.
