Ching Tai, Thursday Evening

Lydia hoped everyone was in the mood for Chinese food this week, because she was, and had therefore exercised her executive privilege to decide they would be revisiting Ching Tai. She needed crab rangoons, all right? She needed them. And this way she didn't have to fret about anyone having difficulty finding the place. Win-win.

"Passable," Liliana said after a moment's thought. "I've hit a slight wall with my research and need to rethink my approach. And yourself, darling? What made this week so good?"

"It's a long story," she said slowly. "But I got to talk to someone who's in my situation back home, when no one else is. If that makes sense."

"It does," Liliana said, glancing away for a moment. "I remember when I first learned there were others like me."

Her first meeting with someone like her had been awful, but first learning about other Planeswalkers had been such a relief.

"Good feeling?" Rey asked.

"It was," she said, inclining her head. "We were not much for companionship with one another, but we still had a...community, I suppose. I might go decades without seeing another Planeswalker, but they were out there, and they knew what it meant to be what we are." Beat. "Were, I suppose."

"I don't think I know about Planeswalkers," Rey said, in a way that said she was curious if Liliana wanted to explain.

[And I JUST realized I had Lili ping to the wrong comment. I'm so sorry, idk what drugs my phone does sometimes.]

Fortunately, there were few things in the world that Liliana enjoyed talking about more than herself--at least for certain topics, of which Planeswalkers were on the list.

"In my corner of the Multiverse, Planeswalkers are beings with the ability to traverse through the Blind Eternities to go from one plane to another," Liliana explained. "Dimension-hoppers, I have heard it said here on Earth." Which sounded so much less dignified than Planeswalker, but here she was. "We are very rare, born with what we call a 'spark', a fragment of the Blind Eternities stitched into our very souls. Even more rarely, such a person can undergo something that makes our spark ignite, and which usually involves us ending up on another plane entirely. Which is certainly an exciting way to learn that there are multiple dimensions. Before the laws of the universe were rewritten, we were not unlike gods - in fact, many Planeswalkers would create planes of their own, populate them, and then demand to be worshipped as a god." She wrinkled her nose. "Crass."

[Didn't even notice till now lol oops.]

"I can absolutely see where that would be a lot for a person to handle on their own," Rey said thoughtfully.

"Especially since one's spark almost always ignites due to a trauma so intense that the desire to get away is so intense, it reverberates through one's very soul," Liliana said lightly. "So it's quite an event all on its own."

Presumably for other people, of course; as Liliana was Clearly Fine^TM.

"I can understand that." On a very micro level, she was guessing. "...Do you like it now?"

Hopefully after the trauma was dealt with or at least repressed.

What trauma? That was for lesser beings.

"I always loved it," Liliana said. "Far more before, when before we fell."

Now that was trauma. That she also would deny until she died.
