Caritas; Wednesday [05/21[.

Summer had an idea for a theme with her cocktail and shots this morning and she was really hoping she didn't regret texting Tino to get him in on it. But when she showed up, he was dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops (sorry, health department!) and a straw hat, with a little swash of sunscreen across his nose, and she wouldn't be even more delighted.

He claimed he never got her texts, and was actually just coming directly back from a pool party, but Summer wasn't believing that for a second. Either way, she had cleaned up after shenanigans and looked cutely like she herself was ready to host a pool party and one of the zombies had even brought out a steel drum specifically to appease her.

Yacht rock is the baseline for the vibes on the stage that evening, but feel free to bring your own up there, too!

"I am absolutely not letting yacht rock stand," Jack muttered, tossing A Look at the zombies. "Right, let's break in this summer with some Metallica, shall we?"

Was that a groan from drummer-zombie at the predictability of that request? Or because his arm just fell off and he had to lean down to reattach it? Who knew. Either way, a few minutes later, Jack grabbed the microphone, and--

"End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your death's construction!"

Join Summer in your skepticism about Tino having any sort of actual social life.

Ah, there it was, Jack's first stop after getting to the island: Summer bar night.

He sank down in a seat. "Hey, Summer," he greeted. "What's going on this week?"

Awww. Now those were some priorities that Summer could absolutely support!

"Hey, Jack," she grinned back. "It's a Pool Party Cookout today." She gestured, helpfully, to the specials board, and then snorted. "Honestly, I just wanted a good excuse to bring the absolutely awful corn jello shot recipe I found in, and built from there. How about you? How's your week been?"

"I'll have the iced tea and absolutely no corn jello shots," Jack said, grinning. "And, uh. It's been pretty good. As in 'heard one of our songs out in the wild' pretty good."

"Even the husk has alcohol!" Summer reported, merely out of pride for that fact and not as a convincing argument, especially since she knew that this fact would dissuade him even further. But the ice tea was easy enough and she started to get it ready and poured. "And, ooooooh, like, on the radio? Or were you actually on TikTok and what I put out there is getting some traction? Or just, like, some rando listening to shit too loudly on the subway or whatever?"

"Like on college radio playing in some hole in the wall in Jersey City where we stopped for coffee," Jack said, watching the ice tea pour. "Though I haven't checked TikTok yet."

Predictably, he was procrastinating.

"I'm just honestly glad you know what TikTok even is," Summer said sweetly, setting down his ice tea with a flutter of eyelashes. "But now I'm torn, because, on the one hand, yay, that's honestly awesome, and, like, god, that has to be so surreal, too! But also...."

Her nose wrinkled and her tongue stuck out for a moment.

"Jersey."

"Yeah, yeah, I was there with the New Yorkiest of New Yorkers, I've heard it all," Jack said, rolling his eyes. "... But it was pretty weird, yeah."

Especially since it was the song where he called himself an asshole!

"Look at you," Summer said fondly. "You'll have all the weird loser college-age Jersey incels fervently following you in no time! Did you actually say anything anyone? Be all like, 'hey,'" her voice dropped down into a clearly male register that sounded very little like Jack's actual voice, "'I totally wrote this, you know.'"

"Uggggh, don't even, that's a cursed mental image right there," Jack said, sipping his drink. "Ew. No. Let's talk about you. How was your week, and how can I mock you about it?"

"No corn. No burgers. Please."

Although the corn was an impressive feat of Jello engineering.

"All I need is for you to at least admire the corn," Summer declared, because, yes, it was impressive, and she was going to set one out for Stark, as well as a burger one, despite his specifications (it was also much closer to a slider than a full-ass burger, at least?), and then set down the other two normal shots before going to get him some of the iced tea. "The husk even is boozy, Stark! And spicy!"

"The corn is very impressive," Stark allowed. "It might be cute if it weren't horrifying."

He was going to ignore the existence of the burger, thanks.

"I like the pool ones though. Very cute. And... hi?"

Come on! What better way to celebrate the approach of the season of Summer than with a burger encapsulated in boozy jello by Summer herself??

It was arguably not even the grossest thing he'd had that week!

But when the 'hi' came out of Stark, Summer had to smile. "No," she said, "not yet. Despite what the specials board may suggest. Also, I have bags of the candies on the shots for Rey if she comes in, but I'm sure she won't notice a few missing if you wanted a few more."

There were so many better ways, Summer. So many.

"Why would I say no to more candy? Please."

He was going to consume that shot first now. Because it was cute. And full of candy.

"Did you do this before or after Anakin's nonsense?"

The tables are decorated with seashells tonight, despite the theme being a pool party.

The temptation to put a kiddie pool back here to really bring things around was tempting, but overall, Summer decided against it.

Mostly because she didn't trust Tino around it.

It's the last day of my vacation, boooooooo.
