Hey, guess what, Fandom? There was a new restaurant in town!

No, not the Waffle House, although hopefully it would come around again soon. Raiden would never regret the competition.

This was Over Easy, a breakfast and brunch spot where Goodvalor's Little Bivoli used to be, open from 7-3 seven days a week and offering all your breakfast and brunch favorites (plus bottomless brunch cocktails on the weekends)! And today there was a giant OPEN NOW sign out front, plus balloons, while inside a jazz band had been hired to make their grand opening celebration a jazz brunch.

And Raiden was here, too, of course, giving last minute instructions and worrying, "Do we have enough eggs? I know how many eggs we have. I know it's a lot of eggs. But is it enough?"

Rey wasn't sure that she had ever actually had brunch, mainly because she wasn't entirely sure of the difference between brunch and breakfast. She was eager to find out though!

She was also happy to wait and mingle as it gave her some time to look around.

"Rey, hi!" Raiden exclaimed. "Welcome! Hope you like things over easy!" Raiden, that sounded bad.

"I mean, we can also do your eggs however you want. We have the power."

"I wouldn't expect any less from you," Rey smiled. Because Raiden could do anything with food, therefore... "This place is terrific."

"Thanks!" Raiden exclaimed. "I mean, I can't take all of the credit. I let Castor--he's one of my brothers still in California--buy all the stuff to decorate and whatnot. Buying stuff makes his sin happy," he explained, if that qualified as an explanation.

He took a deep breath of delicious breakfast smells and looked around approvingly.

"Thank you!" Raiden said. "I'm really excited. We've got a great menu. And some great specials, although the crab cake benedict is actually on the regular menu. I just wanted to highlight it because Maryland, y'know?"

Eleanor was hoping that brunch with her sister would be something to help pull Luma out of her morose mood about potentially having lost Boc to the whims of the way things just were sometimes thanks to life on a nexus, and, besides, a new restaurant opening in town was something new and exciting that she'd want to be there for, anyway. So it was both of the Zarrin sisters coming in today, and immediately appreciating the smells as soon as they walked in.

Well. Probably well before then, for Luma, whose eyes were already looking a little brighter at the prospect, and Eleanor found herself feeling cautiously optimistic about the whole thing.

"Ladies!" Raiden exclaimed, possibly with a little too much enthusiasm. The guy was loud, it wasn't his fault. "Welcome to Over Easy!"

"Sounds like someone could stand to take it easy," Luma murmured, low and under her breath and clearly just meant for Eleanor's own preternatural sense of hearing to have caught the remark. Which she did, nudging Luma with her elbow to quiet her.

She was going to take the sassiness as a good sign, though.

"Hello, Raiden," Eleanor offered, much more congenial. "Thank you. This is pretty exciting, actually. What a great idea!"

Oh, of course Liliana loved brunch. She was bougie as fuck, c'mon, it was literally not even a question.

Bellinis were delicious. She was going to order a pitcher for the table!

Was she the only person at her table? THAT WASN'T RELEVANT TO THE BELLINIS AT HAND, OKAY?

That was completely irrelevant to whether or not a pitcher of Bellinis was indicated, which it clearly was! Why, if there were more people there might need to be more pitchers of Bellinis. "Liliana!" Raiden exclaimed. "I had a feeling you would love brunch. Don't know why. Call it intuition."

Or some vague awareness from radio that she didn't like getting up during so-called normal breakfast hours, perhaps.

A pitcher of Bellinis for every person sounded like just the thing, honestly.

"It's a meal perfectly scheduled for my preferred wakeup time--" which was why that moose looooooooooooved giving her first period classes "--and we get to drink tasty cocktails without anybody tut-tutting over what time it is."

Not that Liliana particularly cared what people thought, but it was very annoying when they tried to make it her problem.

"Oooh and everything on the board sounds wonderful. I'll take one of each, darling, if you don't mind."

Listen, Liliana would get along great with Alistair, Bellamy, and Raiden's sins, okay?

Even if Ignis was far more interested in the coffee, himself.

"I'm having cheesecake for breakfast and you're not allowed to tsk," Liliana declared, smug. "Already it's delightful. And served at a proper time."

And, obviously, Arden was there, too. Even more than Liliana, she wasn't going to miss today's grand opening, though hers was less about loving bunch. (And definitely not about Bellinis.) "Do you need a hand with anything, Raiden?" she asked. "Can I help?"

"Are you looking for a job, or just asking?" Raiden had to check. "Either way, can you check on Gray? Poor guy fell asleep in his cheesecake waffles," Raiden said, gesturing toward the table where someone had removed Gray's face from the waffles, and most of the berry syrup from his face, but he had not yet woken.

"Awww, yeah," she said, giving Gray a fond look. "And can I get another plateful of waffles? An extra big one, to share when he wakes up so he has warm ones?"

Of course Ignis was going to want to check out Raiden's new breakfast place, especially if it meant perhaps a good reason to try and see if he could at some point tempt Liliana out to it some morning before ten. Noon, if he was feeling less optimistic.

And if he could see that sign in the window, he might feel compelled to take Raiden up on the offer.

It was a good thing he could not see that sign in the window.

"Ignis!" Raiden greeted him as he grabbed the Braille menu out from behind the hostess station. "I've got the handwavey menu here for you, and we also have a cheesecake-stuffed waffle with mixed berry sauce and a Bananas Foster French toast on special today--and the crabcake benedict, but that's also on the regular menu, we're just kind of highlighting it. So, uh, yeah. Welcome to Over Easy!"
