Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

Llewellyn had been sleeping poorly, which meant Steven had been sleeping poorly along with him. Rather literally.

Steven didn't mind, of course. He minded Llewellyn was having troubles, but not that Steven was losing sleep to keep him company with them. Working on a sleepless night was practically one of Steven's specialties after all.

Fortunately there wasn't anything requiring too much concentration at the Museum today. Steven kept cups of tea handy as he got through his regular work. He could go without sleep, but caffeine helped.

There was an utterly absurd amount of bread in the house at the moment, to say nothing of the dough in the freezer ready to be baked at some future time.

Right now, though... "Hello, you," he greeted, with a genuine, albeit somewhat tired, smile.

"Hello, you," Steven replied with a similar smile. "How are you, love?"

"My mood is much improved, seeing you," he informed Steven.

"Good." Steven put out the sign he was taking lunch so that he could come around the desk and join Llewellyn. "Were you able to rest at all?"

"Mmm," Watts made a non-committal noise, as he deposited his hat alongside the sign.

"That sounded close to a 'no'," Steven pointed out.

"Because it was," Watts admitted with a sigh.

Steven stepped closer, going to rub Llewellyn's back if he let him. "My poor love. Do you need tea?"

Watts closed his eyes, leaning in to the touch. "I would love a cup," he admitted.

"You all right waiting by yourself for me to fix it?" Steven asked. He indicated Blathers' office. "Or you could join me? Won't take long either way."

"I'll accompany you, if you don't mind," Watts said.

[hasaknightjob]

"Don't mind at all," Steven said. He led the way into the office. "We've a kettle. Won't take long."

"Wonderful," Watts said, trailing after him.

"Advantage of being married to a Brit," Steven told him. He got some water on to boil in the electric kettle then set about putting together a cup of tea for the both of them. "Are you still up for the party tomorrow?"

"Of course," Watts said, without hesitation. "Wouldn't miss it."

"All right," Steven said. The kettle boiled. Steven turned it off and finished preparing the tea, making sure Llewellyn's was the way he liked it. "Didn't want you feeling pressured if you weren't up for it. No good not to be able to enjoy your own birthday after all."

"I'm just a little tired," Watts waved a hand. "It will pass."

"All right," Steven said. He held the two cups of tea, one in each hand. "Shall we to lunch then? I can hang on to these until we're at the table?"

"Let's," Watts smiled at him. He didn't reach for Steven's arm, but only because he didn't want to accidentally knock the cups of tea.

Which was appreciated, as Steven was holding them carefully. He headed out of the office. "Looking forward to seeing what you've made. Tasting it as well."

"I do hope you like it," Watts said as they walked to their usual spot.

"Kind of you to still make something," Steven said. "While you're feeling out of sorts."

"I like making things." There was so much bread at home right now, Steven. So much. "Keeps my hands and my mind busy."

[hasaknightjob]

"All right," Steven said. "Long as you're not putting yourself out on my account."

"I wouldn't," Watts assured him. If for no other reason than he didn't want to upset Steven, which overdoing it would result in.
