The streets- Friday afternoon

This week was a lot. It was a lot and Rey didn't appreciate the holding-spitting alligators because what did you even do with that? Sure, you smack goldfish away with a lightsaber or the Force, but come on.

Other things she did not appreciate:

* That her eyes bugged out like a cartoon when she saw said goldfish-spitting alligator
* That she said "what the help" when that happened

Plus she was just trying to get to her warehouse and there was a box ahead held up with a stick that was clearly attached to string, with a sign pointing to it reading "PUPPIES INSIDE."

"There are probably not puppies inside that," Anakin told her dryly, coming up behind.

"This is insulting," she said. "I'm smarter than this. We are all smarter than this."

The dumbest person on this island was smarter than this.

"It really is insulting they think we'll fall for it," Anakin said, avoiding the very obvious rope on the ground.

[thatwaslucky]

"And yet, not the strangest thing about this week," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Which one was for you?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"Probably the snow monsters," she said thoughtfully. "And you?"

[sith_happened]

"Being a Padawan again," Anakin said with a shudder.

[thatwaslucky]

"You were a padawan and I missed it?"

Ugh, this week.

[sith_happened]

"I was," Anakin confirmed. "I confused Jaina and Ahsoka in very different ways."

[thatwaslucky]

"Were they younger too?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "They were. Being called 'Granddad' threw my 17-year-old self a bit."

[thatwaslucky]

"Was that not normal for you yet here?"

Signs that Rey has been here too long.

[sith_happened]

"Not yet," Anakin said. "I was the only Skywalker here my first year."

[thatwaslucky]

"That's hard to imagine," she admitted. "Even when you were the only Skywalker here more recently, it didn't seem like it."

All the Skywalkerness got a little pervasive, maybe.

[sith_happened]

"We cast a long shadow," Anakin said teasingly.

[thatwaslucky]

"Just a bit," she smiled. "Was it much different here then?"

[sith_happened]

"It felt much more chaotic," Anakin said, "but that might have been because I was younger."

[thatwaslucky]

"As chaotic as this week?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

Anakin gave the "FREE PUPPIES" sign another look. "About the same?"

[thatwaslucky]

Rey frowned at the sign. "Not all the time, though, right?"

[sith_happened]

"I haven't missed the alligators and the goldfish," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"That happened before?" she asked. "That might be the strangest thing about all this."

[sith_happened]

"All of the things have happened before," Anakin said. "At least the stuffed animals didn't come to life. Our house would've been a disaster."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'd be safe from that one but it sounds like it would get weird," Rey said.

[sith_happened]

"It was very weird," Anakin said. "Jaye's Obi-Wan action figures came to tiny life."

[thatwaslucky]

"How weird did that have to be for you? Did he sound tiny? Did you say figures, plural?"

She was unaware of Jaye.

[sith_happened]

"She made them kiss."

Probably. It was Jaye.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey stared. "That's twisted."

It was Jaye.

[sith_happened]

"Have you met Jaye?"

Oh, enjoy this blast into Anakin's past, completely with Padawan hair, Jaye, and dancing springing to life right there in the warehouse.

There was just such, such a long pause.

"What the heck am I watching?"

Heck. Ugh.

[sith_happened]

"I wish I could explain this in a way that doesn't make me sound completely insane," Anakin said as he and Jaye zombie danced. With jazz hands.

[thatwaslucky]

"Not explaining isn't making you look sane either," she pointed out.

[sith_happened]

"Well," Anakin said after a long, pained pause. "It's about the winter holidays."

Sort of. If you squinted.

[thatwaslucky]

"What."

What.

[sith_happened]

"Death told us to jazz hand," Anakin added, definitely making it better.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey just stared at him. Because literally what other response could she have.

[sith_happened]

Anakin jazz hands-ed at her.

[thatwaslucky]

"...Is Death here with us now?" she asked, eyeing the jazz hands.

[sith_happened]

"No, he graduated," Anakin said, making more sense by the minute.

[thatwaslucky]

"Death. Like Death," she said. "Death graduated? To what, Death college?"

[sith_happened]

"I didn't ask about his future plans," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"I feel crazy," Rey said.

[sith_happened]

"That happened a lot," Anakin said, nodding. "I helped him pick out his homecoming outfit, too."

[thatwaslucky]

"You're messing with me," she decided.

[sith_happened]

"I really wish I was," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"This all sounds like it used to be even stranger and I didn't know that was possible," she said.
