Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Rey thought the daemon thing was pretty cool. You know who didn't? The woodchucks, who were hiding under a part of the obstacle course where they thought Varlo couldn't get at them.

"He's fine," Rey said, trying to coax them out mostly because she felt bad. "He's not going to hurt you."

"I could still get in there," Varlo said.

"Unhelpful," she told him.

It was really her fault for bringing a coyote in here.

If they weren't thrilled about a coyote, they were really going to hate the enormous lion trailing Anakin today. "Rey?" he called.

"Yeah," she said from where she'd been crouching. "I have company."

"Me too," Anakin said, like maybe Rundu had grown more inconspicuous since driving class.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey raised an eyebrow. "That makes sense," she said, and to Stanley Rundu said, "Hello."

She gestured to her coyote. "This is Varlo."

"Hello, Varlo," Rundu said in a very James Earl Jones register of voice.

"Rundu sounds much more impressive than I do," Anakin added.

"That is a very impressive voice," Rey admitted.

Varlo gave a quiet little nod. He was maybe a little more standoffish.

"It's been a while since we've had some weirdness, I guess," she said. It'd been like two weeks.

"This is pretty weird," Anakin agreed.

Rundu glared at him.

"At least we should be able to have some degree of normalcy," Rey said. "By which I mean not fighting anything."

Unless the daemons had some kind of Plan.

"I'll never get over the disappointment of not having hands when the dinosaurs came back," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Nor should you," she said. "I had to give up and went to Supper Club that day."

In her defense... look at that week.

"And how did eating go that day?" Anakin asked with a grin. "Our house was a disaster."

[thatwaslucky]

"Easier for me with the Force but I definitely looked stupid," Rey admitted.

"Rory was lucky I didn't think to use the Force to take pictures because her drinking coffee from a bucket as a pony would be my comm wallpaper."

"At least you'll know for the inevitable next time," Rey smiled. "How are you doing today, aside from watched?"

[sith_happened]

"Pretty good," Anakin said. "It's interesting to see the manifestations around town."

[thatwaslucky]

"I haven't seen anyone else yet," she admitted. "I should get out to see later."

[sith_happened]

"Hopefully it won't be over by tomorrow," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"You're hoping this one stays around?"

She looked at the daemons. "No offense."

"Christopher's keeps changing," Anakin said. "It's fun."

[thatwaslucky]

"To what?" Rey asked. "I didn't know that could happen."

[sith_happened]

"Lots of things," Anakin said. "Birds, a lizard, a lion cub--"

[thatwaslucky]

"...do you know why?" she wondered.

[sith_happened]

"It's because he's young," Rundu intoned. "His daemon will settle."

[thatwaslucky]

"That's actually really cool," Rey said, smiling.

[sith_happened]

"So you weren't always a lion?" Anakin asked. "That's fascinating."

[thatwaslucky]

"I wonder if they change as you get even older," Rey said.

[sith_happened]

"You were an interesting case," Rundu said, looking at Anakin. "When you fell, your soul...wasn't exactly lion-shaped any longer."

[thatwaslucky]

"What was it?" Rey asked curiously.

[sith_happened]

"He was severed from having a daemon," Rundu said. "It, fortunately, didn't kill us both. Palpatine was evil."

[thatwaslucky]

She hadn't expected that. She'd thought maybe it was a worse animal.

So she was kind of left with, "Uh."

[sith_happened]

Rundu shook out his mane. "I was very recognizable. Everyone knew Anakin Skywalker's daemon."

"And you could just come back... after?" Rey asked.

[sith_happened]

"I was imprisoned," Rundu said. "Luke found me on the Death Star."
