Rey's warehouse- Friday late afternoon

Chewie had declined to stick around at the warehouse, mostly because he was not dealing with the woodchucks today, but Rey had BB-8 with her, and he was more than happy to trail after her on the course today.

At least till he got to the lava, at which point he stopped, rolled up and back a little, and then screeched.

Rey stopped and turned around. "I warned you it was too far to get across."

He again, rolled up towards the edge of the course, swiveled his dome to look down, and rolled back again.

Rey sighed, holding out her hand to float him across to the other side as he beeped a thank you.

"You're not going to like the net portion either," she said.

Anakin came in at his normal time ignore RL lala and called out, "Rey?" as he walked in.

BB-8 beeped a greeting, followed by Rey calling from the course, "Be right down!"

"Take your time," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's not going the best," she warned, having to get through the net so she could get BB-8 across that too.

"Well, this wasn't meant for rolling through," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's a different challenge," she said as she set the little droid down safely before taking off again, with him determinedly chasing her.

"It is," Anakin agreed, smiling as he watched.

[thatwaslucky]

BB-8 was actually keeping up pretty decently, since he happily followed her around on a regular basis and had some cool extensions he could use to get around. But Rey still had to pause to get him where he needed to go, though she was getting better at it the more she did it.

And when they finished the course, with BB-8 sliding way too fast down the ramp and curving his path to skid to a spot, Rey told him, "Very good job up there."

"Most impressive," Anakin agreed with a nod.

"We'll do better on the next run," Rey said, smiling at BB-8.

"How's the weekend going so far?" she asked Anakin.

"Luke couldn't make it this year, so it's pretty quiet," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Quiet is better than chaotic?" she guessed.

[sith_happened]

"I kind of like the chaos," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"Would you like some of mine?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

"It depends," Anakin said. "What shape is your chaos in this weekend?"

[thatwaslucky]

"I just met the family of someone I've been dating less than two weeks."

It went fine! She thought. Maybe. Maybe?

"Oooh, that feels soon," Anakin said. "Is it soon? I've been married half my life."

[thatwaslucky]

"It's soon," she said. "But I'm glad I met them. I liked them. I think they liked me okay?"

She'd feel more confident in this tomorrow.

"You're very likeable," Anakin said, nodding and smiling.

[thatwaslucky]

She appreciated that, but. "I said some things that I was apparently missing the context for, but I still don't know what the context is to know if it's bad," she said.

"Well, he'll probably tell you if it was bad," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"He would. But that's probably a conversation for after the weekend," she said. "And this isn't serious, it probably shouldn't matter if they like me or not..."

"But it's always nice to be liked," Anakin said with a smile.

[thatwaslucky]

"And I really like him," she admitted.

[sith_happened]

"That's nice to hear," Anakin said. "What do you like about him?"

[thatwaslucky]

"Well... he's really passionate about the things he cares about. I'd ask questions for half a day straight if I could," she said. "He's interesting, and kind, and he's just a good person."

And, you know, plus the stuff Anakin didn't get to and didn't want to hear.

He absolutely did not want to hear about that, no!

"Being a good person is a definite plus," said the...probably middlingly good person.

He should remember that when he tries to overshare during pollen.

"My standards might be a little low there," she said. "But it stands out."

And was hot. Shh.

"I don't think your standards are low," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"On that particular front only," she clarified. "Otherwise they're very high, you can probably ask any of my friends."

She was fine with it.

Anakin laughed. "And why shouldn't you have high standards?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"No idea," she said. "I just can't imagine being with anyone I don't know and can't be positive I can trust."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "It's very important," he said. "I've done it without, and it will slowly kill you inside."

[thatwaslucky]

Rey frowned. "You have?"

[sith_happened]

"I kept a lot of myself from Padme," Anakin said, "and that ended in tragedy."

[thatwaslucky]

"Because you didn't trust her?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "I didn't know how she'd react to some of the thoughts and feelings I'd had, so I just swallowed them down."

[thatwaslucky]

"A problem for sure," she said. "I'm sorry."

[sith_happened]

"I was young," Anakin said, "and I made every mistake."

[thatwaslucky]

"I try to avoid doing the same."

On a lot of levels.

[sith_happened]

"You'll make different mistakes," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"All right, I don't want to hear that..."
