Rey's warehouse- Sunday afternoon

Jaina had too much time on her hands here. She also continued enough in the way of supplies to this particular warehouse that she felt she had the right to make an edit to the course while Rey was away. Was it mean? Yes. Was it going to be helpful? Also yes. Also probably really annoying and possibly a little painful.

It also involved mechanics and while Jaina was more than capable of handling it, she also had a pretty handy grandfather on island who knew the course better than her, so she was about halfway done when she gave him a call and waited for him to arrive.

"Jaina?" Anakin called, coming inside with a toolbox. "I'm here."

Yes, she could track him with the Force across the island, but this was a polite way of announcing himself.

"Perfect," she said, waving him over to where she was crouching on the flat part of the course. "I have the hardware itself mostly installed."

"Are you going to tell me what you've modified?" he asked, hopping over the quicksand, "or am I going to guess?"

"Of course I'll tell you, I need help with the mechanics," Jaina said. "Come up here, I'll show you."

Anakin grinned and headed over. Since it was Jaina, he had no problem bouncing through the warehouse using the Force.

And because it was Anakin, she didn't even register he did it. Because of course he did.

She gestured to where there were about twenty flat, circular pads installed into the floor. "These are meant to come up and go down while the course is in use," she explained. "I want them on a randomizer, so they'll pop up at times you can't predict to deal with."

"Ooh," Anakin said, sounding decidedly approving. "I like it."

Rey, maybe not so much.

No. Very not much.

"Much harder to memorize the course," Jaina finished. "I did make sure to keep room before the lava so no one dies."

"I appreciate that," Anakin said with a laugh. "The woodchucks are worrisome."

[solo_sword]

"And I really don't want to find out if they have... I don't know, kangaroo lawyers or whatever," she said, only half joking. Because you never know.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed again. "I think it's a weasel, or maybe it only works with the raccoons? I've lost track."

[solo_sword]

She paused. "I can't tell if you're joking."

Be joking.

"I get that a lot," Anakin said unhelpfully.

[solo_sword]

"Of course you do," she said with a sigh. "So. Think you're up for helping with the hard part on this?"

[sith_happened]

"Yes, please," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

She gestured to where he could start working. "I knew you'd jump at this."

Also it was built by him.

Anakin grinned. "It keeps me out of trouble," he said.

[solo_sword]

"We definitely don't need you in any of that," she teased. "Also, it's bonding time."

[sith_happened]

"I love bonding," Anakin said. "Where do you want me first?"

[solo_sword]

"If you can figure out the pop ups," Jaina said. "I started the wiring but you might be better than me there."

And then, "Might."

[sith_happened]

"I am better but only because of my advanced age," Anakin assured her.

[solo_sword]

She nodded. "Just let me know if your eyesight is too bad to see."

[sith_happened]

"You're a pain and I've never liked you," Anakin said with a grin.

[solo_sword]

"And you are a giant liar," she smiled.

[sith_happened]

Anakin beamed back. "Maybe a little."

[solo_sword]

Jaina made the 'tiny bit' gesture at him.

"So how are things?" she asked as she started back at work.

[sith_happened]

"Things are good," Anakin said. "The kids are back in school, and Juliet learned how to race speeders over the summer. Rory is not thrilled."

[solo_sword]

"Rory, come on," Jaina said. "It's a life skill."

[sith_happened]

"That's what I said," Anakin said. "She wasn't impressed."

Rory knew who she married.

[solo_sword]

"Better racing than stealing."

Jaina wouldn't offer to teach her how to steal a speeder...

[sith_happened]

"Speeder stealing is also a life skill," Anakin proclaimed.

[solo_sword]

"Okay, thank you," she said, like she'd been wanting to say that. "I've done it so many times in the name of work!"

[sith_happened]

"Exactly!" Anakin agreed. "Obi-Wan showed me how!" He grinned. "I already knew, but it was nice of him."

[solo_sword]

"I should talk to Tahiri about adding that to the Knights' training," Jaina realized.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded, getting to work on the task in front of him. "It's essential. So is knowing how to disable one quickly."

[solo_sword]

"I'll call her. Or work on it next time I go back," she decided, completely serious.

[sith_happened]

"Petty theft is also an underrated Jedi skill," Anakin said. "It's excellent for causing distractions."

That would definitely end up in a diplomacy class.

"I've never had to do that," Jaina admitted. "I leave the distractions to other people while I've cut it too close and have someone right behind me."

[sith_happened]

"Knocking over a fruit pile is a classic for a reason," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

"Running through a plate of transparisteel is probably more cinematic," she said, not smirking at all.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "That's what the stolen speeder is for."

[solo_sword]

"I'm just going to add all of this to a bucket list," she joked.

[sith_happened]

"It's worth doing once," said Anakin, explaining everything about why Rory was less thrilled about their daughter's turn to speeder racing.
