Homecoming was that weekend, so Steven was hard at work making sure the art and history exhibits featured previous Homecomings for anyone who wanted to be extra nostalgic.

He was also behind the Welcome Desk not infrequently, should anyone popping by wish to speak to him.

"Hello, you."

Most especially people who wanted to have lunch with him! "Hello, you. I haven't seen you in ages."

Since that morning.

"It has been far too long," Watts agreed.

Literally mere hours.

"Eternity," Steven said, even as he put out the sign which said he was taking lunch. "Horrible, really."

Watts deposited his hat on the counter as per usual before holding his arm out for Steven. "Well, lucky for us both the wait is over."

Steven took the offered arm gladly. "I'd wait forever for you if I needed."

"I'd prefer not to make you do so," Watts said as they began their walk to their lunch spot.

"Fortunately for me, you didn't," Steven said. "How's your morning been then?"

"Uninteresting," Watts told him. "Well, aside from when Raphael decided to try his hand- or paws, I suppose- at musical composition."

Steven chuckled. "Practicing his scales, was he?"

"Attempting to scale the piano, at least," Watts said solemnly.

Steven giggled again. "He does love to climb. Shame the piano can't make shelves for him."

"Oh, he'd never leave it alone were that the case," Watts said with a put-upon sigh.

"Is it better or worse than when he tries to sit in your lap while you're playing?" Steven asked.

"Oh, worse," Watts said without hesitation as they reached their lunch spot and he let go of Steven's arm to pull his chair out. "At least when he's in my lap he is still, for the most part."

Steven took the seat with a grateful smile. "And it's your own fault for providing him a warm and comfortable place to sit."

Did Watts give Steven's lap a lingering, playful look before he turned to spin down into his own chair? Perhaps.

Steven caught the look and ducked his head, blushing. "Cheeky."

"It's my favourite place to sit," Watts said with a wink, before he set about unpacking their lunch.

"Doesn't that look fun?" Steven said. He patted himself down for his mobile so he could take a picture. "Smells wonderful too."

Watts beamed, pleased by the reaction. "I thought it looked nice- a good variety of different things in one bowl."

"It wasn't too much trouble to make?" Steven asked. Photo done, he put his mobile back into one of his pockets. "It looks like it has a great deal of steps."

"Not too many at all," Watts said. "And they can be done simultaneously to some degree- the vegetables roasting while the chickpeas cook."

"Aren't you clever?" Steven said.

Yes, it was entirely possible the recipe told Llewellyn to do that. Steven did not care about such details.

Instead, Steven took a forkful of as many ingredients as he could and enjoyed that hearty bite. He made a pleased sound as he tasted it. He also tried to say "Well done" but his mouth was full so it was dubious how coherent that came out.

Coherent enough for Watts, who was used to trying to decipher Steven speaking with his mouth full (not dirty). He did keep watching expectantly, though, wondering if Steven would be able to taste the maple in the sauce.
