Pizza Planet, Thursday Evening

Lydia had sent out missives to the various Supper Club regulars, and hoped that word would get around to anyone else who might like to join them, to meet this week for pizza.

Or pasta or salad or whatever else was on the menu, of course, but everyone knew the real focus was the pizza. Just ask Mr. Raiden.

The most important part of any island event.

"Oh, I know pizza!"

Henry was going to stop being excited when he knew things at some point or another. Today was not that day.

"But what kind of it are we getting..."

He had also, going by the thoughtful way he was rubbing his chin, been wholly ruined by Raiden's pizza class.

"Do you know what options you like?" Rey checked.

"Most of them," Henry said brightly. "I just know some places do them one way, and others the other way." He looked at Rey. "Do you have a particular one in mind?"

"No, because Raiden has spoiled me," she said, and asked, "They do them different ways?"

"There's one place where it's more soup in a bread bowl," Henry mused. "And sometimes they're square."

"Wait. Why would it be square?"

Because Detroit pizza is great, Rey.

"I didn't really pay attention to that bit," Henry admitted. "It was tasty, though! Suppose that holds for any shape you make it in, really."

"Oh, there was a heart-shaped one for Valentine's Day," she remembered. "But that also means there's less pizza."

A tragedy. Damn you, Hallmark holiday.

"Can't you just get them to make a bigger heart?" Henry asked. "Bigger than a regular pizza, I mean."

"But then I'd want the rest of the larger pizza," she reasoned.

Fortunately, this was pizza by Raiden, and thus unlikely to break Henry's heart the way, say, Papa John's might.

"It is rather complicated, isn't it?" Lydia asked. "The different crusts, and then all the toppings..." She didn't see why you needed more than one crust option, but somehow she had the good sense not to say this where Mr. Raiden might be able to hear.

Yes, but what kind? So many possibilities!

"Perhaps we should just get a bit of each, to be sure," Henry said.

"That is one of the benefits of being in a group, I suppose," Lydia said. "We can share in cases like this. Heavens know I could never eat a whole pizza by myself!"

Henry, who could probably do two and a half at least, blinked. "Why not?" he asked.

The focus was definitely the pizza.

Also the big bag of Halloween candy Rey brought with her, saying "Please take some."

She might give any excess to Raiden.

"Is there something wrong with it?" Lydia, unable to fathom why anyone would give away perfectly good candy, asked. Did you know how much sugar cost in her time, Rey? Did you?

"No, there's just too much for me," Rey assured her. "There's a decent variety."

"Too much...candy?" Did not compute.

"Yes. And I'm saying that, which is saying something."

In fairness, her sweet tooth only went down far, even if she hoarded non-perishables to a slightly worrying degree.

"Good evening, everyone," Flint said, stepping into the shop.

"Hello. Please take as much as you can carry," Rey said, gesturing at the bag.

"What did you bring?" Flint asked, hoping for easily pawnable jewels.

There might be ring pops!

"Halloween candy," she said. "I am only one person."

"That's a great deal of candy," Flint said, blinking.

"There was more before this was given to me. Plus what I kept," she said.

"Has Miss Bennet had some already?" Flint asked.

"I've offered to everyone here so far," she told him.

"And you still have this much candy," Flint said. "I'm baffled."

"Me too. And I don't even think I can say Fandom is regenerating it," she said.

"That would be a neat trick," Flint admitted. "I could use a never emptying bag of food."

"It would come in handy a lot," she agreed. "As long as Fandom wasn't Fandom about it."

"It would only be full of terrible candy," Flint said, "or canned fish."

She would actually take canned fish, those were good in a pinch!

"Cooked macaroni and cheese. No container."

"Bag full of gruel," Flint said, smiling.

"I really hope we're not jinxing the," she realized.

Worst Christmas gift ever!

"I don't think it works like that," Flint said optimistically.

"It absolutely works that way," she said.

"Well." Flint pressed his lips together. "Shit."

"Captain Flint! Good evening, sir!" Lydia greeted him. Alas, unlike Rey, she did not have a giant bag of candy to shove at him.

"Good evening, Miss Bennet," Flint said. "How has your week been?"

"Pleasant enough," Lydia assured him. "I have no complaints," other than her baking and swimming classes, but those were her crosses to bear. "And yourself? Did you enjoy the Halloween festivities?"

"I did," Flint said. "The party was interesting and I dispatched the parrot immediately after."

There was a slight pause, then Flint added. "It wasn't alive. I didn't murder a parrot."
