Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Rey should have worn black. But no, she failed to look outside before leaving- a rookie mistake in December- and now she was going to have to spend a while in MCA's laundry room washing white clothes.

She was already irritated about that, but she was also spending training time trying to very carefully scrub the color off an unlucky woodchuck. "I'm going to need you to stop squirming if you want me to do this," she said. "Unless you want to run through the course while I turn on the rain controls."

Anakin had begun his walk as an exercise in using the Force to deflect individual snowflakes away from himself, but that got annoying quickly. He arrived spattered in colors. "Rey?"

"Over here," she called, sighing from where she was dealing with the woodchuck. "You'd think the color wouldn't stick as much on darker fur."

"I'm not giving woodchucks a bath," Anakin said immediately.

"It's all right, I've got it," she said, holding up the rag she'd been using on the woodchuck like he was a baby duck. "Sometimes the whimsy's a little much."

Wait till she was cleaning marshmallow off her boots tomorrow.

"Only sometimes?" Anakin replied dryly.

"Some of it I like," she pointed out. "The polar bears, the Yule log thing, caroling gremlins..."

"I can do without the caroling gremlins," Anakin said with a laugh.

[thatwaslucky]

"That's because you're not friends with them," she smiled. "Some of them have very pleasant voices, for gremlins."

"I will take your word for that," Anakin said. "I'm pleased you've managed to avoid the family curse."

[thatwaslucky]

"It might be the not-related-by-blood thing," she reasoned. "I've had a couple bites, but they were accidents."

"Mine are plentiful and none of them were accidents," Anakin said dryly.

Rey considered this. "Do you suppose Luke or Jaina have any footage...?"

Was she kidding? Who knew!

[sith_happened]

"They don't," Anakin said in that too-quick way of a lying liar.

[thatwaslucky]

"Of course not," she smiled. She'd check with Luke and Jaina. "How's your week? Especially with... all of that out there?"

"Frustrating," Anakin admitted with a smile, "but it's just part of living here in December."

[thatwaslucky]

"Only a couple of weeks and it'll be boring again," she assured him. And frowned as she realized there was another colorful spot on the woodchuck.

"I'll miss some of it," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Like what?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

"I like the twinkling lights when they aren't trying to murder us," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Yes! The light up reindeer are much better when they're not inflatable and angry."

And she was going to have a soft spot for the reindeer now anyway.

"And attacking," Anakin added.

[thatwaslucky]

She paused. "I could use the practice... Not that I'm asking for it."

[sith_happened]

"We can practice now," Anakin said with a grin.

[thatwaslucky]

"And we should," she said, patting the woodchuck- mostly clean- to send him on his way. "But you're not actually trying to kill me."

[sith_happened]

"I could, but I like you," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Exactly," she said, and frowned. "I just listened to myself say that."

Anakin laughed. "Well, you're good. You're very good."

He was just Anakin.

"I'll believe that more when I can complete the course again," she pointed out.

The pop ups. She hated them so much.

Anakin laughed. "You'll get there."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'd love that day to be soon," Rey said, standing up.

[sith_happened]

"Not too soon," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Yes, soon," she said. "I'm not sure my legs are ever going to be not bruised again."

Anakin smiled. "The pop ups were inspired."

Evilly, evilly inspired.

"Those are kriffing horrible," Rey said immediately. "Which probably means I need them."

"Probably," Anakin agreed.
