Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

It was cold outside but warm inside at least. Steven was happy to be at work for more than the usual reasons. He put a sign on the outside of the museum to let people know they could come in and get warm if they needed. He also made sure to have the kettle ready for a hot cup of tea or cocoa as well.

He was currently sipping tea while sitting behind the Welcome Desk. It was a good day for it.

"Hello, you," Watts greeted.

It was always a good day for a lunch date! At least depending on the person the date was with. Luckily, this was just such a person.

"Hello, you," Steven said, perking up when he saw him. "How are you? How is it out?"

"Fine," Watts said, shouldering out of his long winter jacket and scarf because- well. He'd endured colder. "Glad to be inside, though."

Steven didn't care that his husband was from Canada. He was still going to fuss. "Here, let's see your hands?"

"If you must," Watts said, taking off his gloves. Which were leather, not terribly vegan of him, but also the same pair he'd owned for years before even meeting Steven.

"I must," Steven said. He took Llewellyn's hands in his and rubbed them to warm them. Perhaps they weren't even cold, but Steven was doing it all the same.

Did Watts secretly (or perhaps not-so-secretly) enjoy the fussing, even if it wasn't strictly necessary?

... Yeah, yeah he did.

"That's nice," Watts commented, because it did feel nice.

"Have to take good care of these hands," Steven said. He rubbed Llewellyn's fingers. "How else could you play piano?"

"Poorly?" Watts offered.

That was enough to startle a laugh out of Steven. "Yes. Well. I suppose."

"Could try figuring out how to play with my toes," Watts mused.

[hasaknightjob]

"If your dancing is any indication, you'd be brilliant at it," Steven told him. He gave Llewellyn's hands each a kiss for good measure.

"Flirt," Watts replied, as much for the kisses as the compliment, though the latter did also get a "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Steven said. He gave Llewellyn's hands a squeeze before letting go. "Right. Anything else need warming up or shall we head off?"

Watts glanced down at Steven's cup of tea. "Could use a cup myself," he admitted.

"Coming right up!" Steven said. "I've kept the kettle ready for just that thing. Shall I meet you at our spot when it's ready or would you prefer to wait?"

"I'd much rather walk with you," Watts told him. "I'll wait."

"Right, back in a tick," Steven told him.

This was his husband, so of course Steven kept things to hand that Llewellyn enjoyed in his tea. Helped that much of what Llewellyn liked, Steven liked too.

That and the kettle being kept at the ready meant it didn't take too long for Steven to prepare the cup and bring it out from Blather's office.

"Here we are. Nice and hot."

Watts took the cup from Steven's hands, brushing his fingers across Steven's as he did so. No, he didn't need an excuse to do so, he just liked it.

It wasn't as though Steven minded after all.

"Can't have you catching cold."

"I'm a miserable patient," Watts said, even though that wasn't what Steven meant. It was still true, even if he'd gotten much better about not taking it out on Steven.

"I don't like you being sick," Steven said. He put out the sign to say he was taking lunch. "You being unhappy is part of it."

He didn't care for being the target of Llewellyn's misery either, but he had gotten better about it at least.

"You do make me feel better, though," Watts told him. "Always."

Steven smiled at him fondly. "I make you soup and read to you. I don't like that you're sick, but I do like that it helps."

"I do feel a little bad that I can't do the same for you," Watts admitted. "Not that- I certainly don't wish for you to fall ill. But it does seem unfair that I cannot return the favour."
