When the music started, it was an interesting mix.
Good and evil - And their merits - Men have argued through history - As well they should! My philosophy Any child can see - "Good is evil - And therefore All evil is good"
Phoebe got off the stool and spun in a small circle as the music picked up.
Nadia approaches the stage slowly, looking like she's about to try and hide behind the curtains. Instead she goes to the band, talks to them for a few seconds and then slouches to the microphone.
"Hi," she says. The band begins to play a familiar, kinda obnoxious tune. . . .
It won't be easy, you'll think it strange When I try to explain how I feel That I still need your love after all that I've done
You won't believe me All you will see is a girl you once knew Although she's dressed up to the nines At sixes and sevens with you
I had to let it happen, I had to change Couldn't stay all my life down at heel Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun
So I chose . . . Fandom Running around, trying everything new But nothing impressed me at all I never expected it to
She nods to the band, and the music picks up a very punk attitude. So does her voice.
Don't cry for me Argentina The truth is I never left you All through my wild days My mad existence I kept my promise Don't keep your distance
And as for fortune, and as for fame I never invited them in Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired
They are illusions They are not the solutions they promised to be The answer was here all the time I love you and hope you love me
Don't cry for me Argentina
Don't cry for me Argentina The truth is I never left you All through my wild days My mad existence I kept my promise Don't keep your distance
The music slows back down for a few more lines, but kicks back into the rockin' again by the ending.
Have I said too much? There's nothing more I can think of to say to you. But all you have to do is look at me to know That every word is true
After about her fourth cocktail, she takes the stage
Oh, I can't take another heartache Though you say you're my friend I'm at my wits end You say your love is bonafide But that don't coincide With the things that you're doing When I ask you to be nice You say you gotta be Cruel to be kind, in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you Baby, you gotta be cruel to be kind Well, I do my best to understand dear But you still mystify, and I wanna know why I pick myself up off the ground And have you knock me back down Again and again And when I ask you to explain You say you gotta be Cruel to be kind, in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you Baby, you gotta be cruel to be kind Well, I do my best to understand dear But you still mystify, and I wanna know why I pick myself up off the ground And have you knock me back down Again and again And when I ask you to explain You say you gotta be Cruel to be kind, in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you Baby, you gotta be cruel to be kind
"Not too much," she said with a grin. "It's Friday. I'm going to the spa on Sunday with my friends. And hopefully we'll get a crowd in here tonight. What's up with you?"
Cole shimmered into Caritas, his arm around Phoebe, supporting her as they appeared. He helped her sit down in a comfortable chair where she could easily see the stage. "Want me to get you a drink, love?" he asked.
Just as a disclaimer to GOB's act, there are a few things to note.
1) GOB is an idiot who doesn't realize that he just may be acting in an offensive manner.
2) Anything with Franklin is canon. Including the song lyrics (http://the-op.com/ref/ee2.php?ep=218&pg=2). And it is used entirely to make GOB look like an idiot.
3) There is one line in particular that may be mildly offensive. There is a reason why the song abruptly ends on that point both on the show and here tonight.
4) This is meant in good fun and I hope nobody is offended by it. IC, it's an idiot saying stupid things without realizing how stupid they are. OOC, it's just borrowing a page from canon for, hopefully, some laughs. The fact that I've consulted everyone I can think of to see if this is okay, and still almost didn't do it should hopefully show how seriously I do take big issues.
The Zombie Band launched into The Final Countdown as usual when GOB walked out, carrying a box. He waved them off and walked over to the stool in the middle of the stage.
"Hello, fine people. This week, we'll be taking a brief break from the World of Illusions. This week is about unity. It's about togetherness. It's about brothers coming together, sharing the world."
GOB opened the box and pulled out a puppet. "Ladies and gentlemen, my partner for tonight, Franklin."
Years ago, GOB introduced Franklin - a street-wise African-American puppet - into his act in an attempt to "hip it up." This didn't work very well.
GOB's voice went up a bit as he spoke as Franklin. "Hey there all you--" The next several words were thankfully muted by a zombie coughing fit. Several people in the audience would have been offended had they heard what GOB had called them in the puppet's voice.
"Whoah, Franklin," GOB said. "Remember, this is about togetherness. Unity. Let's show them the love!"
GOB turned his wrist and Franklin looked at him. "Yeah, okay you mo--" One of the zombies really needed a cough drop.
"Here's a track from a CD Franklin and I recorded a couple years ago," GOB said. "The CD is 'Franklin Comes Alive.' You can still buy it on Amazon. Hit it, boys!"
The music began and GOB and Franklin began their duet.

1) GOB is an idiot who doesn't realize that he just may be acting in an offensive manner.

Thank you.
PRESENTING.... GOB
Re: PRESENTING.... GOB
"Hello, fine people. This week, we'll be taking a brief break from the World of Illusions. This week is about unity. It's about togetherness. It's about brothers coming together, sharing the world."

GOB's voice went up a bit as he spoke as Franklin. "Hey there all you--" The next several words were thankfully muted by a zombie coughing fit. Several people in the audience would have been offended had they heard what GOB had called them in the puppet's voice.
