Empire Records and Bidet [2/5]

Nadia opened Empire Records and Bidet for the first time a little bit nervously. She'd never actually had a job before, and she was split between being excited and really really scared.

Fortunately, Lucas would be staying on hand today to help with any issues she might have.

The music mix today was all Argentine pop, all the time. A little techno-y for some tastes, but Nadia always felt it gave her good energy.

"Could you tell me how many clock radio's you have please?" Orlin asked sweetly to the new person behind the counter.

Nadia blinked, smiled slightly in return, and turned desperately to scan the store. "Clock radios! Um." She closed one eye and looked to the side in thought, then leaned over to scan a list written in very, very small handwriting on the cash register, and then finally looked back up and shook her head. "It looks like we don't carry clock radios. Is there, um, anything else I could get you?"

Orlin sighed disapointadly, he really needed some clock radio's. This town need an electronics store. "When did you start here?" He asked instead.

Walter walked in the door, spotted Nadia, and seriously considered turning right around and walking right back out.

However, Victor was right behind him, so he pressed onward and wandered aimlessly until he found himself in the middle of the classical music section. Ah, someplace where he wasn't behind the times, how refreshing.

Victor walked in behind his boyfriend and spotted Nadia as well.

"Shit," he said under his breath, and followed Walter and looked through the Techno rack behind him.

Brahms, Bizet, Beethoven...

He stopped on the Beethoven and began looking through CDs. How was he supposed to know which were good recordings? He knew the pieces, but not the ensembles.

No, he was not going to ask the salesperson at the sales desk. Nope.

"Do you know anything about classical music?" he asked Victor instead.

Orlin came back up to the sales desk. "I am getting these." He said, "How much?"

Nadia struggled only a little bit with the barcode reader and the demagnetizing pad, hit a few buttons on the cash register, and smiled slightly when everything went how it was supposed to. Her first sale!

"Cash or credit?" Please say cash, please say cash, please say cash. . . .

Lucas, noting that Nadia was helping Orlin with something that probably involved advanced mathematics, stepped over to greet the other customer.

Two customers in one day. A good sign. After yesterday's distinct lack of crowd, he was starting to worry he'd go bankrupt.

Nadia caught herself almost expertly, just before their arms were fully extended, pointing her inside foot and wishing she'd worn heels and a floofy skirt instead of jeans and steeltoed boots.

She was getting just a touch breathless, but was really starting to enjoy herself. "It is. You should go there, someday."
