Caritas - Open [7/2]
Veronica made it to work just before the storms started.
She checked the Zombie Band, had Tino tape the drummer's foot back on and got everything ready to open for the night.
[in theory, I'll be around all evening. in reality? we're having storms and there's a possibility my net or power could get knocked out.]

The Stage [7/2]
Re: The Stage [7/2]
She gestured for the zombies to start. She might have given one of said zombies a blonde wig.
Don't ask where she got that.
She started slow:
"On nights like this
when the world's a bit amiss
and the lights go down
across the trailer park
I get down
I feel had
I feel on the verge of going mad
and then it's time to punch the clock
"I put on some make-up
and turn up the tape deck
and pull the wig down on my head
suddenly I'm Miss Midwest
Midnight Checkout Queen
until I head home
and put myself to bed"
Lucas sighed as the music picked up speed.
"I look back on where I'm from That'd be Jersey, folks,
look at the--ha!--woman I've become
and the strangest things
seem suddenly routine
I look up from my Vermouth on the rocks," she sloshed her drink about before taking another gulp.
"a gift-wrapped wig still in the box
of towering velveteen.
I put on some make-up
and some LaVern Baker
and pull the wig down from the shelf
Suddenly I'm Miss Beehive 1963
Until I wake up
And turn back to myself."
She started dancing slowly around the stage.
"Some girls they have natural ease
they wear it any way they please
with their French flip curls
and perfumed magazines
Wear it up
Let it down
This is the best way that I've found
to be the best you've ever seen
I put on some make-up
and turn up the eight-track
I'm pulling the wig down from the shelf
Suddenly I'm Miss Farrah Fawcett
from TV
until I wake up
and turn back to myself."
And suddenly, she was screaming into the microphone.
"Shag, bi-level, bob
Dorothy Hammil do,
Sausage curls, chicken wings
It's all because of you
With your blow dried, feather back,
Toni home wave, too
flip, fro, frizz, flop,
It's all because of you
It's all because of you
It's all because of you!"
She stopped, grinned, finishd her drink and tossed the glass behind her. "Okay, everybody!
"I put on some make-up
turn up the eight-track
I'm pulling the wig down from the shelf
Suddenly I'm this punk rock star
of stage and screen
and I ain't never
I'm never turning back!"
She proceeded to rock out about the stage as the zombies finished up the song.
Re: The Stage [7/2]
As the song started up he turned to Veronica and sang his first line:
What'd you forget?

Re: The Stage [7/2]
Memories
Like the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me - Would we? Could we?
Memories
May be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it is the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were
The way we were
Re: The Stage [7/2]
She borrowed a guitar (though not from the zombies, because, ew, stinky) and took the stage. "This song is for . . . well, everyone."
I don't know how to sing,
I can barely play this thing,
But you never seem to mind,
And you tell me to fuck off,
When I need somebody to,
How you make me laugh so hard,
How whole years refuse to stay,
Where we told them to back off,
Locked up blindly in a word,
Or a misplaced souvenier,
How the past chews on your shoes,
And these memories lick my ear.
I know,
You might roll your eyes at this,
But I'm so
Glad that you exist.
How we waste our prescious time,
Marching in the picket line,
That surround those striking hearts,
And the time is never now,
And we know who we should love,
But we're never certain how.
I know,
You might roll your eyes at this,
But I'm so
Glad that you exist.
I know,
You might roll your eyes at this,
But I'm so
Glad that you exist.
I know,
You might role your eyes at this,
But I'm so,
Glad that you exist.
Re: The Stage [7/2]
So Lucas was back on the stage.
"Imma gonna sing 'gain, 'kay?" She turned to the zombie in the wig. "An' you look very sexy in that."
One day you see a strange little girl look at you
One day you see a strange little girl feeling blue
She'd run to the town one day
Leaving home and her country fair
Just beware
When you're there
Strange little girl
She didn't know how to live in a town that was rough
It didn't take long before she knew she'd had enough
Walking home in her wrapped up world
She survived but she's feeling old
'cause she found
All things cold
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl, you
I really should, you
I really should be
Going
I know you are sure
I know you are sure
I know
I know you are sure
One day you see a strange little girl look at you
One day you see a strange little girl feeling blue
Walking home in her wrapped up world
She survived but she's feeling old
'cause she found
All things cold
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl, you
I really should, you
I really should, you
I really should
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl, I
I really should, you
I really should, you
I really should
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl
Where are you going?
Strange little girl
I
I really should, you
I really should, you
I really should, you
I really should, be -- going
And then Lucas ran off the stage. Because, really, she'd had rather a lot of vermouth, and just a bit of everclear, that evening.
Re: The Stage [7/2]
"This is in honor of what Veronica bought me on friday," she said, as means of introduction.
He said to her "I'd like a cheeseburger,
And I might like a milkshake as well",
She said to him "I cant give you either",
And he said "isn't this this burger bell?",
She said "yes it is, but were closed now,
But we open tommorow at ten!",
He said "I am extreme-a-ly hungry!
But I guess I can wait until then..."
Coz' you're his Cheeseburger,
His yummy Cheeseburger,
He'll wait for you-ooo,
YAH! He'll wait for you-ooo,
Oh, You are his Cheeseburger,
His tasty Cheeseburger,
He'll wait for you-ooo,
Oh, he will wait for you.
He stayed at the drive-thru till sunrise,
He may have dozed of once or twice,
when he spotted a billboard for 'Denny's',
Bacon and Eggs for half price,
How could he resist such an offer?
He REALLY needed somthing to munch!
Cheeseburger please do not get angry!
He'll eat and be back here for lunch!
Coz' you're his Cheeseburger,
He's priceless Cheeseburger,
Be back for you-ooo,
He'll be back for you-ooo,
Won't be so long Cheeseburger,
Oh lovely Cheeseburger,
Be back for you-ooo,
Oh he'll be back for you!
Coz' he loves his Cheeseburger with all his heart,
And there ain't nothing gonna tear you two-oo apart,
And if the world suddenly ran out of cheese,
He would get down on his hands and knees,
To see if someone accidenly dropped some cheese in the dirt,
Then he would wash it up for you,
Wipe it up for you,
Clean that dirty cheese up just for YOU!
You are his Cheese-bur-GER!!
Re: The Stage [7/2]
Then applauded wildly.
As you do.
Re: The Stage [7/2]
He should never be allowed vermouth or everclear ever again.
I'll take back my pinata it's wasted on you
Just spinning that pool cue all over the room
And give back the blindfold that's under your shoe
Let's drink, drink this town is so great
Drink, drink cuz it's never too late
To drink, drink to no big surprise
But what words rhyme with buried alive
What words rhyme with buried alive
You could be a float for the 4th of July
Based on your theme of "Wallflowers Grown Wild"
Look through your peephole, you've won every prize
Let's drink, drink this town is so great
Drink, drink cuz it's never too late
To drink, drink to no big surprise
But what words rhyme with buried alive
What words rhyme with buried alive
In your monkey suit on a cigarette break
The lunchtime crowd, they won't even blink
But you'd be sad if they did
But you'll be sad...
Let's drink, drink this town is so great
Drink, drink cuz it's never too late
To drink, drink to no big surprise
But what words rhyme with buried alive
What words rhyme with buried alive
Then she might have passed out on the stage.
