Caritas, Monday Evening
As Jarod entered the bar, the zombies were snickering. It seemed to get quieter for a few minutes, then started up again, this time with grunting and pointing at him. He thought he overheard the drummer say something about "cha cha" and "radio," but assumed they'd just been hired to play for some dance classes.

The Band
Re: The Band
Her guitar skills had greatly improved in the last five days, it seemed, as well.
My city's still breathing, but barely, it's true,
Through buildings gone missing like teeth.
The sidewalks are watching me think about you,
Sparkled with broken glass,
I'm back with scars to show
Back with these streets I know
will never take me anywhere but here.
The stain in the carpet this drink in my hand,
These strangers whose faces I know,
We meet here for our dress rehearsal to say
"I wanted it this way",
Wait for the year to drown,
Spring forward, fall back down,
I'm trying not to wonder where you are.
All this time lingers undefined,
Someone choose who's left and who's leaving.
Memory will rust and erode into lists
Of all that you gave me,
A blanket, some matches, this pain in my chest,
The best parts of lonely,
Duct tape and soldered wires,
New words for old desires,
And every birthday card I threw away.
I wait in four/four time,
Count yellow highway lines,
That you're relying on to lead you home.
That you're relying on to lead you home.
That you're relying on to lead you home.

The Bar
Re: The Bar
One of the stray zombie comments made its way to her. A coaster winged its way toward the band and hit two band members. There was much less snickering after that.
"How was California? Bring me anything?"

"There was a spell on Saturday. I thought I was someone named," she shuddered, "ChaCha." She stopped, bit her lower lip, and said, "Okay, I know you won't be mad at me? But please promise you won't be wanting to extract revenge on anyone else, either. All parties suffered equally, believe me."

She'd been gone a year. Or five days. Depending on who you asked. She'd possibly broken up with Walter despite the fact that she'd thought they'd already done that, and she'd already recovered from it.
And there were still things that had happened while she was gone that she was trying not to think about.
She needed a drink.

She clapped when the other girl had finished singing, grabbed a bar stool, and ordered a gingerbeer with lime.

Seras took a sip of her drink.
"You were good," she said, gesturing towards the stage.
