Caritas [Sunday Evening]

Greg opened up Caritas, mulling over the conversation from earlier in the day with his school-appointed and very grumpy little brother.

He whistled as he started to reassemble the band, and then took his place behind the bar and waving cheerfully to Jarod on the other side of the bar.

[Wait for OCD threads! Threads are up and Caritas is open.]

Parker rolled her eyes. "Inflict? Of course you did." She smirked. "Fine. Saying good-bye to Archie and Veronica. Not fun. Talking to Xander about leaving, same. Coming here to see Lorne!" Happy chair dance. "And I'm taking off for Maine after midnight."

"I'd forgotten new people in meant old people going. Sorry your friends are leaving," he bumped his shoulder against hers, "but good to see Lorne - who's Lorne, by the way? - makes you happy." Jack studied his beer for a minute before asking, "Why are you going to Maine in the middle of the night?"

"Lorne is the green demon who was singing, earlier, over--" she looked around, then pointed him out, "--there. And he's a good friend, who left to host a kid's show, but now he's back teaching Music." She looked delighted for a second, then said, "And he's why the middle of the night-- I was just going to leave this afternoon, until I got his voicemail that he'd be here this evening. So I delayed the trip until after I had a chance to catch up with him."

Jack's eyes widened as he spotted Lorne. "He's very green." Eyes twinkling, he watched him for a minute, then turned back to Parker. "He's very pretty. I think I'll have to introduce myself at some point," he said with a smirk. "And that answers the 'middle of the night question', but not the 'why back to Maine at all' one."

Parker grinned and rolled her eyes, then said, "I just need a break. I have a lot of stuff to think about. Plans for this coming year." She was quiet for a second. "Angelo. There's a place up there that my mom used to visit; the guy who runs the inn was a friend of hers. He invited me to stay any time I wanted to. So, trip."

"I can understand that." Jack twirled the bottle betweeen his hands, then took a long drink, before smiling and poking her gently in the shoulder. "You know my number, right? If you need anything?"

"Of course. I'll probably call you guys on Tuesday or Wednesday, jsut to let you know when I'll be back." She bumped her shoulder back at his. "Torment your newbies for me?"

"I'll do what I can, Parker. But they're so cute, it's hard to torment them properly." Leaning back on the bar, he looked out over the crowd. "I'd much rather...comfort them after others have been tormenting them. So much more satisfying," he grinned into his drink, "and they're so much more susceptible."

"I'll try to get you plenty of willing comfort objects, then," Parker said dryly, then grinned. "I'll see you on Thursday, unless something comes up."

"Until Thursday." Jack finished his beer and stood up, intending to head back to the dorms. "Be careful, okay?" he asked, looking at her seriously.

Parker blinked at him, then smiled. "It's Lake Catherine, Jack. There's no place in the world where I could be safer. Seriously."

"Good." Jack grinned at her, reassured. "In that case, don't have too much fun, make sure you miss me, and I'll see you on Thursday

"Will do." Parker grinned and ordered him another bottle, sipping her own rum'n'coke contentedly.

Jack looked at the beer, looked at Parker, and resumed his seat. "Guess I could have just one more. Especially with such good company," he laughed, brushing her shoulder, then leaned back, content to drink, and watch, and enjoy Parker's company until she had to leave.

A while later, while Jack was talking to someone else in the restroom elsewhere, Parker had a small confrontation with Seely Booth. (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1042421.html?thread=44489717#t44489717)

She came back into the bar after that, wearing a nice new Armani jacket, looking way too pleased with herself.

Jack came back from best not to ask, really, but he probably wasn't alone elsewhere, looking smug, and smirked at Parker. "Nice coat," he said, sliding a finger down the lapels. "Should I ask?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Parker hummed happily. "There's a guy in the alley who might need comfort from you. You'll know him 'cause he's missing a jacket."

Re: The Bar [08/27]

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmmmm." Jack tugged at the collar of Parker's new jacket, then straightened it. "If he needed his jacket stolen and you left him in the alley? I think he can comfort himself." He slouched back onto his stool and leaned back, elbows on the bar, highly amused. "You look like a very satisfied cat. What did he do, and is he still breathing?"

Re: The Bar [08/27]

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Breathing. On the ground. Possibly a little bruised. Whistled at me, called me 'babe', blew my hair out of my face, said that if I wanted him naked, I just had to ask." Parker paused. "Okay, that may not sound like much? But really. You had to see the grin he was sporting when he refused to go away." She folded her arms. "This is so my jacket now."

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Jack snickered. "Oh, it's going to be a steep learning curve for some of these kids." He stroked a hand down the Parker's arm, admiring it even more now that he knew it was the spoils of sort-of war, and wondering is she'd let him borrow it. "It must all be in the delivery, because I'm guessing I've probably said or done most of those things in your direction, and as far as I know, you don't have any of my clothes."

"I have one T-shirt, but that's a souvenir, not booty." Parker grinned wickedly. "And I got thrown at first because he looks a *lot* like Angel, and then he just did not take a hint and go away. You were never that dumb. I might've been decent to him another time, if he'd listened this time."

Re: The Bar [08/27]

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
"He looks like Angel?" Jack asked. "I never got to see Angel. Again, I mean. After I got back."

Tino, as if by magic, put another bee by Jack's elbow, and was rewarded with a winning smile and a hefty tip for his trouble.

"Anyway," he continued, "Angel was cute, right? So maybe this boy just needs to learn he's not the fairest in the land. And also how to take a hint."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd think me punching him and then kicking him probably gave him some indication," Parker said, fussing with the collar. "He might get this back, if it looks like he has a clue. Someday." She grinned. "And please, please don't make me watch you kiss him. Bad enough when it was Wings. I don't nee the doppelganger version too. Yikes."

Re: The Bar [08/27]

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
"He might be slow," Jack pointed out. "Could take him the loss of a few more articles of clothing. Which might not be all bad, now that I think about it." He smiled happily for a minute, then shook his head, bringing himself back to the here and now. "Not a fan of the boykissy? I'm disappointed Parker. But I wasn't planning on kissing him. Not unless he asks really nicely."

Re: The Bar [08/27]

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Sometimes it's pretty, but not when it's Angel. Or Logan." Parker shuddered on both names. 'Then it's all weird and ugh and gahhh, no. I don't even like to *admit* that Angel has sex, even though Cal has made it more than clear that he does."
