Empire Records, 9/15 [Open]

It was Friday. That meant Kaylee showed up after class. Empire Records was open and she'd be around to help anyone who might need it.

While looking for the clinic Simon walked past a shop and heard a laugh that sounded familiar. He entered quietly, and saw Kaylee behind the counter.

"Kaylee?"

"Can I help you?" Kaylee asked before looking up. She blinked a few times when she saw who was standing there. "Simon?"

He smiled a little. "Yes, it's me. Zoe - the Zoe who's here - contacted me about River."

Kaylee smiled a little in return. "Glad you're here... for River I mean."

Simon pulled his fingers thought his hair. It was nice to see Kaylee again too, of course. He eyed the shop around them. "So what are you selling here?"

"Music," Kaylee replied. "Not the same as keeping Serenity runnin,' but it's alright."

Simon nodded and picked up a CD. "This is how they store music? Must take up a lot of space."

It was nice to see Kaylee again, although the engine grease was lacking.

"Yeah, things are simpler where we're from," Kaylee replied. "So how have you been? And how's the crew?"

"Oh, everyone is fine, I guess," Simon replied. "Not much happening. Just the usual stealing and getting chased by villains stuff. How is the school?"

Kaylee smiled. "That sounds about right. The school? It's...different."

She had to admit. It was nice to see Simon again, too.

"And how's River doing?" Simon asked. "I know the version Zoe told me, and a not completely coherent story from River."

"I ain't sure what Zoe told ya, but I'm assumin' it was about what happened last weekend?"

"Yes," Simon replied. "I understand she attacked people thinking they were someone else."

Billy had the notion of browsing the new age section for meditation music.

"Need any help?" Kaylee asked.

"In general or in regards to finding music?"

"Well, seein' as how I work in a record store, need help findin' music?" Kaylee asked with a grin.

"Looking for something, I don't know, peacefull. Good meditation music."

She handed him the list. "There should be something there you might like."

Billy perused the list. "Wow, I have no idea what or who most of this is. Except the collections."

"I admit, I'm still learnin' about earth music," Kaylee said. "But collections are generally pretty decent."

"I've mostly just listened to classical or oldies." Billy said. "I was kind of limited in my choices. What's music like where you come from?"

these two have met before right? I'm almost certain

"I heard some oldies too. I like those," Kaylee said. "Some of it is similar. I kinda like the folksy type stuff."

I think so? If not, handwave it.

"The folksy stuff I heard a lot of in San Francisco." Billy said. "It wasn't a big hit with a lot of my foster parents, most of them were military."

"San Francisco? I'm afraid I ain't real familiar with other places on earth."
