Fast Eddie's - Thursday Night

Weiss was in xTreme Casual mode when he ambled into Fast Eddie's with Molly. He's managed to be at least somewhat charming up to this point, if only in his own mind. And hey, no quarters from ears or paper bouquets yet. He could work this. Even if not, there would be gutter bumpers for an inflated high score.

"JoJo must be having an off day," Molly said. "Maybe he just needs to warm up."

"Something like that," Weiss said as he waited for the ball return to do its stated purpose. "I'd ask you to rub the ball for luck, but I get a feeling that won't happen." Mm. Cheese fry.

"Nope. Keeping all of my luck for myself," Molly said, finally taking a bite of her burger.

"Selfish," Weiss teased. He picked up the bowling ball and rolled again. He didn't hold back, and it wasn't a tough spare. Shatterama. "JoJo for the win!"

"Yay!" Molly applauded before getting up to take her own turn. "Okay, this time, I'm going to try to actually aim at the pins." She threw the ball straight down the lane, but was off center. Four pins on the right went down. "Hmmm, I did better using the bumpers."

Weiss sipped his soda. "See, you tempted fate with that tricky no-bumper thing. You've got no-one to blame but yourself." He grinned. He did that a lot. He also took a bite of his burger, something he didn't do as often.

"My luck must have taken a nap," Molly said as she waited for her ball to be returned. "Time to rely on the bumpers."

This time, she lined up her shot along the left side of the lane. She rolled the ball along the bumper, hoping it would stay on that side an hit more pins. It worked. Sort of. She got two more pins. Yay, six," she said.

"Right. 13 to my I-have-no-idea." Weiss had a cheese fry. They were tasty cheese fries. He picked up his ball and decided to go with blind luck over skill. He rolled the thing with all his might. The word careen was good here. It went left, it went right... it grazed two pins.

"My luck actually went to bed early. I think it has a cold," Weiss cracked.

Molly gave him a look; not frowning, but not exactly grinning either. "Don't play bad because you think I'll feel bad. I already know you'll win," she said simply.

Weiss got very quiet. "You know, that's not fair." He sighed. "There's no way I can do a distracting song and dance number here. I don't have the shoes." He smiled slyly.

Molly grinned back. "Yeah, bowling shoes aren't really meant for dancing."

Weiss picked up his ball and gave it the good old somewhat skilled try. He grabbed 7. Not a spare, but he tried, dammit.

"JoJo picks up 21, Aces high." He did a little dance of white man glory. There was a cabbage patch. "Bring it on, Bubba. Show me what you got."

This was going to be interesting. "First thing I want to say is that I'm having fun tonight," Molly said with a grin.

"Me too," Weiss said, his stomach getting all twisty. "If you'd asked me if I was going to be having this much fun tonight at the beginning of the week, I probably wouldn't have a clue."

Molly smiled. "Yeah, me too." She took a breath. "Okay. Here's the other part." She watched Eric carefully as she spoke. "I went to Homecoming with Ray Kowalski, but it was kind of last minute and we hadn't been out together before that. He stopped by my room yesterday and I told him about the flirting in Spying and that I had a date tonight. And... he asked me to go out on a date with him on Saturday and I said yes."

Weiss took a second. And then he adjusted. Well, he panicked in his brain and he looked adjusted. "Ray Kowalski? I met him. Seemed like a cool guy." AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH. "What's the plan for Saturday?"

"He is going to teach me how to play pool."

"Pool. Awesome. It's a good game. I'm a little jealous, cuz that was my complicated plan if things went to a second or third date." He smiled. "Not that I'm planning ahead or anything."

Molly grinned. "Let's get through tonight's date first," she said. "I mean, there's a ton of stuff you don't know about me yet. You might not want to go out with me again by the end of the night." It was obvious she was trying to be funny.

Weiss rolled his eyes. "Yeah, you're secretly a tentacle monster." He paused. "Wait, I mean, I've got nothing against tentacles if you have 'em."

Molly giggled. "I don't have tentacles, but where I'm from it is a possibility."

"My reality is a slice of normal compared to what I hear about from some of these other guys," Eric said. "No mystical powers, ancient seers, or fantastic destinies."

Somewhere, the fates were laughing their heads off, of course, but that was neither here nor there.
