Caritas, Monday Evening

Jarod was more than a little surprised when he showed up at Caritas, laptop under one arm, and smelled smoke. Then he noticed the lack of dance floor and couldn't imagine what had happened.

The zombies were more than happy to tell him about the fire, complete with sound effects and not-completely-flattering descriptions of their employer's reaction. Tino just rolled his eyes a lot as he finished moving the lounge furniture back into position.

After ten minutes of smelling the smoke he developed a slight headache, and decided to leave the door open for a while to air the place out. It was a little cold, but the air was fresh and brisk.

"Slight problem with GOB's illusion yesterday," Jarod said. "Smell's still there, huh?"

"It's a little... cajun," she says. "I bet he was really just trying to collect on the insurance money."

"Or the dance floor did something to offend him," he added. "You want something to drink?" Not that he could think of another reason Jaye was in the bar, but it seemed polite to ask.

"How about something girly?" she asks. "Ooh, Cosmo! The alcoholic smell should completely negate any charring."

"You bet," he grinned, pulling a glass down from the rack over his head. "Did you have classes today, or did you get to relax?"

Tannim sat down at the bar. Time to find out if it was true they didn't card here. "I'd like a scotch," he said.

Jarod poured a measure into a short glass and set it in front of Tannim. "Are you one of the new students, or are you just new to Caritas?"

"Beer for me," Wyatt said. "What do you have on tap?" He sat down next to Tannim.

"Pretty much anything you could want," Jarod said, setting the beer menu in front of Wyatt, "but they're not all on tap."

"I'll try whatever your most popular one is, then," Wyatt said. "Surprise me." Meanwhile, he was doing a little mental dance of victory at getting served.

Jarod poured a draft beer and set it in front of Wyatt. "Let me know if you don't like it, and I'll try and find something else."

After they'd gotten their drinks, Tannim turned to Wyatt. "So, did you have any classes besides Magic today?"

Wyatt shook his head. "Just the one," he said. "And nothing for tomorrow. The kind of schedule I can get behind."

"Me too," Tannim grinned. "Nothing until Wednesday. Guess we can stay out late tonight." He took a gulp of his scotch and grimaced. He forced himself to swallow the scotch and tried to hide his expression. "Strong," he choked out."

"The other place, that Devil's Nest, they card," Wyatt said, taking another drink of his beer. "I like this place much better."
