Caritas, Wednesday Evening [OPEN]

It was Jarod's last night at Caritas. The zombies didn't say anything to him when he taped them back together for the final time, and Tino didn't say anything, although he did show up for work, which Jarod thought was a plus.

So, he straightened and cleaned and inventoried, just like any other night.

[ooc: This is not the goodbye post, which will be taking place sometime next week. This is just leaning in that direction.]

Jarod and Tino. Tino's really crushed, can't you tell?

Oh, look, there's a ringing phone.

Jarod checked the caller ID and was already smiling when he answered, "I can't give you a beer over the phone."

"Maybe if you try really really hard," Jaye says, grinning from her room in Niagara. "It's Wednesday, I had to show up!"

"I'm glad you did. Surviving your family alright?"

"I threatened to throw glitter on my brother. Been to Fandom twice, he didn't know what that meant," she says. "...Which isn't really an answer, huh?"

"Well, I like the fact that you're not calling me collect from jail..."

"Oh, don't worry, you won't be getting those calls. The lawyer sister has a familial obligation," she says, and pauses. "Unless I get really bored in the clink. So how're you?"

Jarod didn't mention that he could be a lawyer if she really needed one. She did have her sister, after all. "A bit bored, actually. Definitely getting ready to move on."

"How much longer are you there?" she asks. It's not as flaily to talk about now that she's in another state, yay.

"About a week. When do you move to Los Angeles?" Too late, he realized he should have put a tracker on her phone.

"I haven't decided? I should probably talk to them," she says. Because of course Jaye slacked on this. "Maybe next week or something?"

"What are you doing between now and then? How's Mahandra?"

"I'm being very bored mostly. The parents work, Aaron's Aaron, and Mahandra's got a summer job so I go bug her," she says. "I'm writing gremlin fanfic again."

He laughed. "Are the gremlins dating each other? Is there intrigue? Or are they just plotting to take over the world?"

"All of the above! They've moved out of the high school setting, but I'm hoping to get past that and make it a little more adult," she says.

"And how are you going to do that? Will they have jobs, or stirring personal dramas?"

"Both at the same time. Bringing in new and interesting characters from the workplace. Preferrably ones that will throw drinks in the other gremlins' faces from time to time," she says.

He groaned, "Please tell me you're not throwing drinks at people?"

"No," she says, laughing. "You drink the drinks. You don't throw the drinks. Unless it's GOB and he's being creepy-nice."

"GOB was being...I'm not sure I want to know. Never mind. It sounds like these gremlins are going to have very full lives."

"At least until I kill them off for the drama," she says. "Meh, I should probably get going." She doesn't sound happy about it.

"Yeah." He swore he wouldn't, but... "I miss you."

She almost smiles at that. "I miss you too," she says, and means it. "I'll probably talk to you before you leave, too."

"Good. I should let you go, though."

"Yeah," she says quietly. "Bye, Jarod."

"Night, Jaye. Sleep well."

Robin came in and hopped up on the stool. "Hi!"

Jarod blinked at the frog that wasn't quite a frog. "Hello."

"I'm Robin, I don't think we've met." He held out a flipper.

"Nice to meet you, Robin. I'm Jarod," he shook Robin's, er, flipper, "Can I get you something to drink?"

"I'd like a cherry soda please."

"With or without a straw and umbrella?" He asked, pouring out the soda. This wasn't his strangest experience since coming to Fandom, but it was definitely in the top twenty.

"With please." Robin giggled.

Adding the straw and a green (of course) umbrella, Jarod handed Robin his drink. "Are you a new student?"
