Groovy Tunes; Monday [ 07/09 ]

Chad came in, opened the store, did what he needed to to get all the main things done, and then spent the rest of the day trying to coax Prince Oscar Pedro to stop sulking underneath all the CD racks. He was being an emo little naked kitty today because he liked Teddy better when he was a puppy. When Teddy was a puppy, Prince Oscar Pedro didn't have to go do Hallway Playtime.

Today's Mix: Teddy.

Prince Oscar Pedro let out lots of meows of protest. "I'm not rubbing it in," Chad insisted. "I am giving you hard time for being an emo naked kitty."

Idly flipping through a music magazine when not trying to fish out the emo naked kitty.

Evie wandered into Groovy Tunes to say hello to Chad, and also to meet the kitten she'd heard so much about. "Ohhh, look at the--" She blinked when Oscar Pedro came into view. "--kittens?"

"Hey, Evie," Chad offered a slight smile, lifting his hand in a waveless wave. "Best thing about the change in the store, if you ask me."

He did notice that Prince Oscar Pedro had snuck out a little. "Oh, hey, he came to say hi."

"He's very... thin," Evie said, consideringly. "Or possibly he just looks so, next to the fluffier kittens. Is he eating well?" She held out two fingers to Oscar, and wondered if some nice liver and tuna would fatten him up.

Chad grunted a little at that. "Course he's eating well," he said, as the kitten thrust his nose into the air toward Evie's fingers, ready to sniff them or nibble on them if they smelled right. "Ted says I spoil this cat rotten."

Evie shook her head, then petted Oscar Pedro, delighting in the feel of his pelt, and said, "I've heard of hairless cats before, but I don't think I've seen one. Do you think he'll still be wrinkly, when he grows up?" She cocked her head assessingly. "And how is Ted? I'd heard he was a puppy, and then wasn't?"

"I'm not sure," Chad admitted as, instantly, Prince Oscar Pedro started purring that broken motor purr of his at Evie's petting. "I think a little, like growing into his skin or something. An' Teddy's doing real good. Not a puppy anymore, but he did make a good puppy."

"That might be good. He's really rather-- well." You don't insult people's pets, not if you can help it. "He looks cold," Evie said diplomatically. "And good! You know, I haven't turned into *anything* yet, my entire time here. Aside from an Egyptian Princess. Well, and a little girl. That was rather fun. Aside from the purple thing." She scritched behind Oscar Pedro's ears, giggling. "My, he's loud."

"He's not cold," Chad assured her; how could anyone be cold in this heat. "He's still just really little, and I don't think he came from a very stable place, so he's still adjusting. And, yeah, he likes pets..."

"I've only been turned into a girl. And then there's...." He sighed a little, shoulders slumping, "Teh Chad."

"Teh Chad?" Evie wrinkled her brow, still rubbing Oscar's head absently, frowning at Chad. "Who is 'teh Chad'? He sounds like a stage performer of some kind."

"Hopefully, you won't get to meet him," Chad grunted. "He's me, only not be. He's taken over twice; Ted thinks it might be some alternate personality, like in Galaxy Quest, but without the evil goatee. He's me, but not me, and likes being naked for some reason."

"You weren't being 'teh Chad' during the flag football game, were you?" Evie asked dubiously. "Because your teammates should be warned about that sort of thing."

Chad shook his head. "Naked, Evie. Not just shirtless. Everyone was safe during that game; that was just strategy, and was only going to that far. Promise. Even if it was teh Chad there, Teddy was there, and he's got a pretty good method of taking care of the him when he shows up."

Knowing Evie could be a little squeamish about certain things, though, Chad kindly kept Teddy's method to himself.

"That is good to know," Evie agreed. "Because really, I mean. Seriously. Just... no." She shook her head. "The game was difficult enough! All the boys shirtless! Which I've seen before, but there was tackling! Most unsettling."

"Unsuccessful tackling on my end of things," Chad said with a small grin, because, really, that had been fun. "I enjoyed it a lot, the whole game, even if it did end too soon. But I'm glad it ended in a tie."

"I had a *very* good time, although really, that was far too amusing, all of them trying to take you down!" Evie giggled a little, then gave Oscar Pedro one final pat. "Well, I would have liked to have won, but I'm very glad we didn't lose. Sokka would have been *terrible* about it for days. Even if he did buy me ice cream for it."

"See? This way, everyone comes out on top, and no one feels bad, or has the priveledge of rubbing a victory in anyone else's face, you know?"

"Welllll..." Evie hated that she couldn't disagree. "I suppose, you do have a point, yes. And there's always next time for that." She smiled. "Oh! I nearly forgot that I wanted to buy a CD when I came in-- oh, dear, now who was it..." She frowned, trying to remember, and then said, "Cowboy Junkies! My friend Jake told me about several groups a long while ago, and those always sounded amusing."

"Your friend Jake has good taste," Chad nodded, in approval, then cocked his chin toward a row, and directed Evie to the right place.

Evie found the CD, and came back up to the counter to pay for it. "Lovely. Well, I'll leave you and Oscar Pedro to enjoy your day, and get out of your way, but I agree-- he is rather adorable."

"Isn't he, though?" Chad beamed proudly like a doting parent and gave Evie her ~~handwavey~~. "And I know he's really happy you came to visit, Evie. I am, too."

"Splendid! I'll come by more often, I think, now that we're just in workshops." She beamed at him. "Have a lovely day Chad. Good-bye, Oscar!" she called backwards as she waved from the door.

Flopsy, Mopsy, and....that other one certainly don't mind that Prince Oscar Pedro isn't as....jumpy and....friendly as he usually is.
