Turtle & Canary; Monday [ 07/16 ]

On his way to work, Bart kept trying to figure out why there were so many weird footprints all over. Giant footprints at that.

Really weird.

But he just shrugged and waved hello to Bob, taking his place behind the counter. There might possible be a fake moustache stuck to Bob today, but he wouldn't know anything about that. Nope.

Today's Squishy flavors: Bob, Not Alice, Red.

Of course Turtle was going to make a beeline for the store the moment she found out that a dinosaur chomping off her left arm wasn't likely anymore. If they did do any damage, she was going to go ballistic. Possibly go back in time (Lucas had done it once; he'd help her) just to kick one for the damages. Because she knew they didn't have dinosaur coverage on their insurance, but she was sure as heck going to spend the day in the backroom making sure they were covered for everything from here on it.

Not an easy task. Turtle knew that the moment they heard 'Fandom Island' escape her mouth, they'd give her the run-around.

Good thing, too, as the next thing Turtle did was glance toward the SquishyBot to make sure that her cash cow wasn't harmed. Of course it wasn't. Not with those protective lasers, but she had been worried.

"Bart," she gave him a nod. 'Have you had a chance to check out the store? The dinos didn't tear it up at all, did they?"

Turtle stared at Bart a little.

Okay, a lot. "Yeah, you know....Prehistoric creatures? Went extinct millions of years ago, but for some reason, they decided to have a nice little romp around the island this weekend?"

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"That does seem to be the case, yeah," Turtle said, frowning slightly, almost sympathetically, because really....Poor kid. It did seem pretty incredible that he couldn't have known, but she knew that boys were all weird about dinosaurs and thought they were cool when they were really things that could kill you and cause liabilities and insurance problems, yar.

"Where the heck were you all weekend that you missed it?"

Turtle lightly patted Bart on the head. "There, there. It's Fandom. Something else new and exciting is bound to show up eventually. And this, you know, is why you shouldn't play so many video games."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well," Turtle's head tilted slightly as she felt a little bit of her high ground slipping, "did you end up beating it?"

Turtle shook a finger at him. "Let this be a lesson to you, then, Bart," she said with an air of importance, "about budgeting your time better."

"But the place looks okay?" Turtle asked, looking around. She'd noticed the footprints...She'd have to get her clipboard and inspect the rest of the store more carefully. "Alice is working okay, register is functioning, Liz isn't all just a pile of cogs and gears?"

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle nodded. Good. He didn't refute the name; he was finally learning.

"Alright, well, I've got to do some paper work," slight bounce, "in the back room, so if you need anything, I'll be right in there, okay?"

Andrew walked into the store. He still have a few cuts and bruises from fighting off a particularly vicious little dinosaur, and he thought a tasty squishy would help with the healing process.

"Hey there, Bart." Andrew nodded at his roommate. "I'm in total need of an Alice special."

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh! Right. So sorry. My brain is still a little sluggish from duking it out with that ferocious dino this weekend." Andrew turned, hoping to highlight his scrapes in the light.

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, no. I'll be fine." Andrew reached out to pat his roommate on the shoulder. "They are merely flesh wounds. I was just glad to be able to do my part in defending our school."

He was actually really touched by Bart's concern.

Andrew gave up on the whole trying to look noble thing and just grinned all goofy at Bart. "Yeah, I'm sure. I got most of these from landing face first into the concrete anyway. That's what I get for being an idiot and deciding to go talk to my boss while the island is being attacked by man eating beasts. You're okay, though, right?" Andrew tried to recall how he managed not to run into his roommate at all this weekend...

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew's mouth was hanging open. "You finished it! Didn't you just handwaivily start that? I've been playing it for weeks!"

Yeah, Bart is pretty much a miracle worker in Andrew's eyes.

Andrew just shook his head and smiled. "Well, I should be getting along. Don't want to be late for class. I'll just make a quick visit with Bob here."

Andrew moved towards the robot.
