Caritas Thursday 8/2

Phoebe was in a mood when she got to work. She was nice to the zombies and helped get them set up and then... she started writing something on a whiteboard she had brought in with her. When Tino saw what she had written, he laughed.

THURSDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!
If you have a roommate of the opposite gender, you get half off the price of your drinks!

She didn't think the boss would mind as she knew this plus the proclamations the temporary principal was making would get people to spend more money in here.

And she knew that making money was an excellent thing.

"I only have the one eye," Stark muttered before getting to work finishing the offensively colored beverage. "And it will still be blue even if I can't see it."

"Would it help if we put it in a red glass or something?" asked Anders, a little desperately.

"No," Stark said. "It's fine. And if I drink it, it will be gone. And there will be no more blue. For now. I was supposed to not be being a problem. So I'll drink." And he did, making a face all the while.

"Way to go, Stark," Anders cheered him on. "Want another one without the blue this time? Maybe we can make you a green one . . ."

"Without the blue," he agreed, trying very hard to contain his emo. "No more blue. Green is fine. Rygel's green. Except I don't think he'd taste pleasant. But green is still fine."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Comin' right up, then!" Anders snapped his fingers at Tino and just barely missed getting an ice cube in the eye for it. "I think this one might taste more like sour apples than, um . . . the aggressively sweet orangey stuff, but it should be pretty much the same otherwise. Is that okay?"

He looked like he might cry himself if the green brought on a fit of unanticipated emo.

Green was not likely to bring on any fits of emo. He liked Rygel, but not that much.

"Maybe you shouldn't antagonize the bartender," Stark suggested. "I have to drink what he's giving me." Which, at the moment, was something very green. "And apples are fine too. Even if it tastes horrible, I'm sure I've had worse."

After staring at the very green drink, Stark was starting to wonder if he could get a drink in the color of every one of his shipmates.

"Aw, it's just Tino," Anders said dismissively. "It's okay, he'll get over it. Anyway, I could always ask Phoebe to make your drinks if Tino gets all shifty about it. Well? How's this drink?"

"It's very green," Stark said. "I think it even tastes green. Do you think there could be something purple? Or orange? Or maybe grey except I don't know what would make it grey that wouldn't taste terrible but then I don't usually drink much of anything so maybe there is something."

Yes, he was going to drink his way through Moya. Because that would totally help with the emo...or at least with the being drunk.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Purple we can probably do, and maybe a screwdriver for orange," Anders said, trying to think fast. Which, considering he'd only had a couple of beers, wasn't too challenging just yet. "Grey might be kind of . . . um . . . would Grey Goose vodka count? 'cause it's clear, but it has a really pretty bottle . . ."
stykera: (what a dork)

Re: The Bar [8/2]

Stark shook his head. "If I have the other colors I ought to have grey too. Or white would be close enough, maybe. And what about gold? Or red? Red could count for Crais and not just Talyn since he was a peacekeeper. Or maybe Crais shouldn't count. I don't know. And maybe another orangey one. Or pink? I don't know which color D'Argo really counts as. Both? He was just D'Argo colored."

Okay, now Anders was definitely confused. "Maybe a White Russian then? And Goldschlager? And there's always martinis, they come in all different colors."

[personal profile] stykera 2007-08-03 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Poor confused Anders.

"I have no idea what those are," Stark said. "But as long as they're all the right colors, that's fine. They have to be the right colors. Or at least close to the right colors. And there needs to be one for everyone."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooookay then.

"Well, that, my friend," blustered Anders, hoping nothing proved him wrong and made Stark more emo, "is the beauty of a well-stocked bar. You can pretty much get something in any color you want, here."

Stark was making perfect sense to himself. Alas, Anders didn't have quite the same level of crazy.

"Then we need red and gold and purple and white or grey if there is grey and orange. One for everyone, in the right colors. But not all at once. That would be bad." The fact that this was going to be bad regardless escaped him completely.

Re: The Bar [8/2]

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it was probably going to be bad all right, but as far as Anders was concerned this business of not believing in the power of cupcakes any more was far, far worse.

"Tino! You heard the masked man. Get cracking, will you? Something nice and red for starters!"
stykera: (what a dork)

"Red is a good place to start," Stark agreed, nodding his approval at the bright red drink. "Red for the second ship, where I was last before I was here. He's a good ship. I flew him once. I was his Pilot. Even though I'm not a Pilot." He paused, then shrugged. "Didn't make sense then either."

Re: The Bar [8/2]

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Very little of this was actually making sense to Anders, but that was okay. Stark was being talkative and that was probably a good sign.

"Neither am I," he said with a wry smile, taking a sip of his beer. "A pilot, I mean. Not making sense. I like to think I do that. Make sense."

Stark-speak might be rubbing off on him just a bit.

"You make sense," Stark said. "Mostly. More than I do, but then I'm supposed to be crazy so I'm not expected to make sense most of the time. But then when I do make sense it confuses people. Or they still think I'm not making sense because I didn't before."

Mmm, delicious red drink. He really ought to slow down, this was going to be ugly in the morning. Or later tonight.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Stark, you're the most awesome crazy person I know, and you make sense to me most of the time," Anders assured him. This may have had something to do with being best friends with Bridge.

Not that he was discouraging Stark from drinking. You'd think he'd know better, but nooooooooooo.

Re: The Bar [8/2]

[personal profile] stykera 2007-08-04 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you know many crazy people?" Stark asked. "I make more sense now than I used to. Or I did, for a while. Not sure now. Not quite right anymore, again, but you knew that already or I wouldn't be here. But I was much worse before. But then I was pretending, some of the time, for a while. Except when I wasn't."

At this point Stark thought it wise to get his purple drink from Tino, even if he wasn't quite finished with the red one yet.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Anders approved of this decision, yes he did.

"Well . . . no. I mean, I don't think I do. But I do know a lot of people who would probably at least be considered pretty weird, or not normal, or something. Which is sort of inevitable when I'm living here, isn't it?" He patted Stark on the shoulder, and signaled Tino for a couple of glasses of water. "You're doing really well."
stykera: (serious)

Re: The Bar [8/2]

[personal profile] stykera 2007-08-04 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Nobody here is normal." Stark nodded. "But still, not so many that are completely fahrbot. Crazy. And I was. Am. I don't know. Water is not alcoholic, Anders. And doing really well at what? Drinking?"

Re: The Bar [8/2]

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes." Anders shoved a glass of water at him. "And no, it's not alcoholic, but it'll keep you from getting totally dehydrated. Trust me, you should at least take a few sips every now and then."

He mentally filed 'fahrbot' away for future use. That was a pretty cool word.

"I dunno, dude, I think the new principal is way more cracked in the head than you'll ever be."

[personal profile] stykera 2007-08-04 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." Stark obediently took a few sips of the water after finishing off the red drink. "I can do that."

"I haven't met the new principal. Is she that bad? And you never saw me before. I'm much better now, or I was, until I stopped being better. I miss being better."

Now was a good time to start on that purple drink.
