Tutle & Canary; Sunday [ 09/02 ]

When Turtle came in to open the store today, she put up two very important, very large, very glitter-accented signs in the windows.

One read:
NOW HIRING!
Good, competent workers, for weekends and Monday shifts.
Great employee benefits, including discounts on merchandise
AND FREE SQUISHIES!
Inquire within!

The other was a bit more important:
NEW STUDENT SPECIAL!
A whopping 70% off on school supplies, dorm supplies, and groceries
for ALL new students!
Great Savings, always at Turtle & Canary!

Satisfied with her signage, Turtle settled in for a day of hopefully meeting some of the new kids and then working out how to track down her little brother later. She must have just missed him at the picnic yesterday.

Today's Squishy flavors: Fresh Meat, Red, Blue.

Turtle & Canary is open!

Hoshi was definitely going to need supplies since this wasn't the time period she was expecting. She grabbed pretty much one of everything in the store since she wasn't entirely sure what she was going to need. Fortunately, when she was unpacking last night, she found that Daniels had included an envelope of currency with her registration materials.

The problem was, Hoshi had no idea what the amounts were.

"Umm, hi. I'm new here and I'm not sure how to use these," she said to the girl at the counter, waving a couple of $100 bills. "Where I come from, they no longer use currency."

"Where I come from, we have a society where everything is provided for us, so there is no need for monetary exchange. I'm still not sure myself how it came about," explained Hoshi. She was still a few years away from meeting her first Ferengi.

[OOC: I have to run out to work in a few minutes. Will pick this up when I get home this evening.]

"Oh, we have 100% employment," said Hoshi. "Everyone works and everyone shares equally in the rewards."

"Everyone, and because you don't have to worry about earning currency, you can pretty much work at whatever you want to do," said Hoshi. "My mother wants me to become a concert pianist, but I want to be an exo-linguist."

Ohh a store with really cool things! Sora looked in through the windows and patted his pockets to sadly find no munny. But he was happy to see that they were hiring and went inside.

"Excuse me?" He smiled brightly at the girl there. "There's a sign that says you're hiring?"

"Yeah totally!" Especially with the paid training part. "And I think Fridays would work for me!"

The application was almost more frightening than some heartless that he had faced off against.

"Uhh.. okay," He glanced over it again. "I'm not from this world so I guess it's not as bad as I thought," Sora smiled and took the pen as he choose a non buys looking area of the store to start filing out as much as he could, before giving it back to her. "How's all that?"

Sora nodded and shrugged. "Sure! It can't be any harder than fighting off heartless right?" He was going to have a hard time remembering that not everyone knew what heartless were.

Victor walked into the shop and picked up several notebooks and pens. If there was one thing any scientist obsessed with a specific idea needed, it was lots and lots and lots of notebooks. With the seventy percent off sale, this was a deal Victor simply couldn't pass up.

"Don't forget the new student discount," he said when he reached the counter.

"I found everything. The selection was adequate, yes," Victor said.

"Wexler?" Victor asked. "Ah. You're my 'big sister,' I take it. Victor von Doom."

"Thank you," Victor said. He wasn't the type to turn down praise, after all. "I suppose I should ask you, is it true that there are squirrels involved with the radio?"
