The Beach, Sunday, Noon and Slightly Before

Ronan was at the beach waiting for Savannah, ready to help her with the control of her magic. He'd arrived a bit early, separating off a few small areas with shields marked by circles in the sand. Inside each one he'd placed small object, something that wouldn't be missed if it got broken or destroyed: an old mug, a CD scratched beyond repair, a shoe that had lost its partner.

Thankfully, his anger at Savannah had dissipated, thanks in large part to the dance party from Friday night, and his date which is still being played in SP with Bo the night before; it was hard to be angry at her for 'stealing away' Johnny when he was already looking in other directions, after all. ... Well, okay, no, it wasn't, because humans are ridiculously complex and illogical beings; but he was still much more comfortable with what she'd said than he had been before. Comfortable enough that he felt okay helping her; comfortable enough that he felt he'd be able to help her without sabotaging it.

After all, he reminded himself, a soft smile on his face, it wasn't her fault. And he thought that they could probably be good friends, if he'd let them.

[OOC: Up for [livejournal.com profile] walks_two_paths, thread to them locked, please, but feel free to bug Ronan before she shows up; and, of course, beach is otherwise open for all your beach-ly needs.]

Savannah showed up right on time. She was in jeans and a t-shirt and her hair was -- for once -- pulled back from her face. When she saw Ronan was already there, she gave him a bright smile.

"Hi."

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Savannah nodded. "It's going pretty well, started my job yesterday." She was a little bouncy. "I'm definitely ready to get to work."

It hadn't left her mind that the last time she lost her temper and almost lost control of her powers that Wyatt had to grab her and stop her.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Savannah thought for a second. "I've never tried to answer that question... they've just always been there. Then when my guardian did the ritual to open me up and bind me to the powers that were apparently a family birthright, everything just got stronger. I can cast anything that I know or read a spell for. If I cast too much or too many of the stronger powers, it weakens me and tires me out."

She bit her lip. "That... doesn't really help, does it?"

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Savannah shook her head. "As long as I can read or learn the original spell, I can recite it mentally... or ion English or Latin. I'm taking Japanese and plan to incorporate that into my spellwork, too. The more complex the spell, the longer it takes me to learn, and the more I have to prepare for casting it until I know it inside and out."

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Savannah wasn't hurt by this at all. She had seen how her power could hurt someone when she lost control of her emotions and her control.

"So, you want me to use one of my spells to hit the targets? Probably a knock-back spell is better. I haven't really used that one since Umbridge messed with my mind and I got hurt by my own spell."

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Savannah took a moment to prepare the spell, and then opened her hand, hitting the mug.

[[OOC: Not wanting to mod Ronan's shields, so you can decide how far it goes back. She used the low level spell to start with.]]

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"To the mug?"

She wanted to make sure. She wasn't the best at listening usually, but Ronan was willing to help her with her control, so she would do her best to make sure she was clear on what he needed her to do.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
She beamed at him. It was nice to talk to someone about this that understood.

"Yeah, it does."

She was silent for a moment as she recited the spell and sent power flying at the mug.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Savannah smiled. "I can tell there's magic there, but I can't see it." She let her hands relax at her sides. "I have a few spells for stuff like that. I have fireballs, something like a lightning spell, and something that just explodes when it hits the target."

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Savannah was beaming when he said to let loose. She had already prepared the spell, and she let a fireball fly at the CD at half the power she usually would use. She didn't want flying pieces to strike Ronan.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Savannah nodded, and the next fireball she sent out was a little bit more than the normal level she would use.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
And this would be where Savannah's fear was based in.

She had a temper. She didn't like people thinking that she wasn't capable. She was also afraid she would lose control if she got too angry.

She took a deep breath and doubled the intensity of the fireball, making a soft growl in her throat as she released it.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
It was the tone that did it. The tone that caused her to start to lose control of her emotions and therefore her power.

Even though she tried to fight the reaction, Savannah's temper bled into her power when she prepped the next spell. When she was ready, a fireball twice the intensity of the last one went flying... and she immediately started prepping another spell.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Savannah again doubled the power of the spell she was going to use and her entire frame was shaking as she sent first one, then a second fireball at the CD. She was starting to lose track of her surroundings.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
It took a moment for her to hear him, but when she did, she took a shuddering breath and looked at him. Her eyes were sad. "And that's before I lose control of my emotions completely," she said apologetically.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Is it possible to do both, Ronan?" Her tone was soft. "Because, it's any heightened emotion, not just my temper. I have lost control when I was overwhelmed with grief, too."

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Savannah smiled faintly. "I don't have anything about how my power works, because I'm an anomally. My mother was a witch and my father a sorceror. That's not a mating that is common or that usually results in children. HOwever, my cousin, Eve could probably tell you some about the way the witch powers work, while my brother, Sean, could tell you how the sorcery works."

She took a deep breath as she prepped a powerful fireball spell. Lord, but she was ging to sleep like a rock tonight from all of the power she was using.

After a moment, she aimed her hand at the shoe and let loose with as much power as she could.

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Sean owns Nast Sporting Goods in town," Savannah supplied. She nodded, showing some signs of fatigue. "I think you're right, it's probably enough. Thank you, Ronan."

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
She'd hug him in gratitude if she didn't think he'd get weird or annoyed by it.

"I think I'm going to go work off some of this energy in the gym. I'll talk to you later?"

[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks," she said with a smile. "You have no idea how much this means to me, Ronan."

She gave him another smile before turning to jog off.
