Caritas - Monday [Open]

GOB wandered over to Caritas and was surprised to find it closed. He didn't think that he would get away with pretending to be sick if he was opening it himself tonight, but he wanted a drink. If Emma didn't dress wildly inappropriately all the time, she would be in some kind of trouble with GOB for making him ditch his perfectly believable excuse for not doing work.

[OOC: I am around. Huzzah!]

"Very well, thank you!" Turtle chirped brightly, bouncing slightly as she plunked a straw into her drink and took a quick sip. "Hired in a full weekend staff, all new students, and they've been doing very well. Also, I've formed a bit of a partnership with a new business in town, which, actually," sip, "is the reason for my stopping in today, Mister GOB." She looked over at him expectantly for a reaction.

"I may have heard tell of a previous business venture into the banana stand business, Mister GOB," Turtle said importantly, straightening to show that she wouldn't be deterred. "My informant wouldn't speak anything more on it, so I came straight to the source. Do tell, Mister GOB, do tell. How hard can it be to run a banana stand, really?"

Turtle took another big sip before asking, "Then why did you fail, if it's so easy, huh?"

"Giving up is a failure, Mister GOB," Turtle informed him.

"Po-tay-to, po-tah-to," Turtle waved a hand. "Did you succeed? No. Then it was a failure."

Turtle's eyes narrowed. "Still not buying it," she said, crossing her arms in front of her with a challenging glare set dead on GOB.

"If you're going to argue that," Turtle argued back, "then you might as well say that I fail at being a complete failure, too, which then negates the fact, at which point, we keep doing that and it's like dividing by zero or forgetting OOC and the world ends. And then we fail at preserving the world; this is a vicious cycle you're threatening to step into, Mister GOB. You can't tread lightly on this sort of territory."

"I am certainly not giving up!" Turtle thunked a fist on the counter in determination. "I am just making sure you are aware of the possiblilities of your actions, here, Mister GOB. And, furthermore, by you suggesting that if I were to give up on treading lightly, I would be failing and thus ending the world, you accept my argument that giving up is failing!"

"But it's not over yet," Turtle insisted, "so it does matter now."

"No, no, no," Turtle shook her head. "The world ends if I fail by giving up. But I'm still arguing with you, so I haven't failed yet."

There was a confused pause.

"I think."

And Turtle knew that all too well.

"That's the biggest lie I've ever heard," Turtle said with a snort. "Success takes careful thought, planning, and consideration, Mister GOB."

"Oh, I think not!" Turtle announced with a winning chuckle. "I got where I was by offering a proposal for a cash register, and the next thing I know, I'm partner at fourteen and my business is named after me. I don't see that here. Either way, I had to put thought into that proposal that inspired Jane to create such a partnership, and, therefor, you're just lucky. I suppose their are always exceptions to the rules, after all."
