Groovy Tunes; Tuesday [ 09/18 ]

Sometimes, it was just bad for Chad to experience some things. Class today had made him a little...paranoid might actually be the best word for it. He worried, terribly, for the safety of the kittens when he came into work today because, while there was no chance of a graham cracker river here, there were all those walls. So he kept the cats herded up behind the counter which they didn't like very well, but, sometimes, when you had to protect someone, you had to stay strong on these things.

Not even playing their favourite mix was helping them to be quiet, but Chad was not letting them out of his sight.

Katara had absolutely nothing to do today. So she found herself wandering down to the record store to visit the kittens. And Chad. Err, to visit Chad.

She pushed open the door, looking around her. "Hi!"

Chad's eyes went to the door quickly. Okay. Good. Just the door, and the Best Roommate Ever instead of a destructive jug of flavoured drink. He gave a small smile. "Hey, Katara," he said, leaning forward on the counter (carefully). "What's up?"

"You used to come visit me at the post office, but since I don't work there anymore, I figured I'd come see you here," she told him with a nod.

Chad's small smiled stayed. "I like that idea. Why'd you stop working at the post office? You did really good there."

"Cause I do the shifts at the clinic," she explained, leaning on the counter. "But I miss the post office cause people came there, no one ever goes to the clinic unless they're hurt."

"I forgot that you're working over there now," Chad said. And then he became a bit more subdued and quiet, unsure. "I...I could come visit you a couple times," he offered, fully realizing that, yes, it was a clinic, and yes, he hated those, but it wasn't the same if you were just visiting, right? Right? He hoped so. "If you want."

"Yeah, but..." Katara looked at him worriedly. "You don't like hospitals and things. You don't have to."

"Yeah, but it's, like, different...and stuff...when you're not there 'cause you're hurt," Chad said. Mostly trying to convince himself of that again.

She smiled at him hopefully. "If you wanted to...I wouldn't stop you! We have lollipops too for people who are just visitors and not patients. Though I guess I would still give one to a patient."

"...Hard to refuse the promise of a lollipop," Chad said, slowly, with the slight hint of a grin.

"In all different flavours too. Cherry and grape and the best blue ones," she promised, grinning back.

"I have a feeling," Chad commented idly, "that you're a little biased toward the blue."

Katara looked shocked. "Never!"

Chad tilted his head Katara's way. "You sure about that?"

In his defense, Jude had forgotten Chad was working.

That would be why he minced into the record shop on Rikku's arm in full drag, giggling.

"You want some sweet tunes, baby?" Rikku cooed. In her best pimp-voice. "We can get some funk to get our sweet groove on. You can show me that thing with your tongue where you --"

Oh. Uh. Was that Chad?

... Oops.

"Uhhh..." Chad scratched at the back of his neck. Did he miss something today? "...Hey, guys?"

"Hiya!" Rikku dropped her arm from its spot around Jude and waved. "We, uh, we're pimp-and-hoing. It's a thing. How are you?"

Jude sheepishly wiggled his fingers at Chad and flipped his hair over his shoulder.

"M'....good," Chad said after a moment after thinking that he should be worried to think that Jude actually looked kind of cute.

"So, uh. What's ... new?" Rikku asked. "You, uh, you know any tunes we should check out?"

Hey! Those were full sentences!

Jude wandered past to investigate some promising-looking racks. His mini-skirt flounced interestingly as he moved.

And now Chad was left wondering if Jude borrowed that skirt from Rikku and if it bounced so interestingly when she wore it and, wow, there was just so much wrong in his head right now. "You guys...looking for anything in particular?"

He was sure he had an old Ranma mix somewhere that seemed oddly appropriate to the situation.

"I dunno," Rikku mused, scratching her head. "I think we were just kinda stopping in to freak out whoever was at work here. But music would be pretty sweet, too. Uh. Jude?"

"Dunno," he smiled over his shoulder at her, flicking his hair around again. "I'm pretty good."

Chad rubbed the back of his neck a little. Lots of memories in his head at the moment and the realization that his boyfriend could shapeshift just had him really, really worried about himself and a tendency toward certain things.

"Aerosmith," he suggested, because he couldn't get that damn song out of his head right now. He tried to focus on something else.

"I like your hat, Rikku."

"Oooh, thanks!" Rikku started to bounce over to him, and then cleared her throat. Right. Pimp. Pimps don't bounce. Instead, she got her pimp-cane out and swaggered over to Chad.

"Here," she said, taking off the hat and tossing it to him. "You could totally work the pimp thing. Try it."

Jude bounced a little, knowing which one he was thinking of. "Doo-doo, doo-doot, duuuuude looks like a lady . . ."

He reconsidered and, in his best impression, belted out, "Jude looks like a lady!"

"Forget the CD," Chad replied with an amused grunt. "Jude's got it down."

And, of course, he took the hat from Rikku and plopped it on his head ~~and the mun really, really wished she was cognizant enough to pull out photoshop right now but will be crashing in about two seconds~~. "Don't usually look good in hats, but, yeah?" He lifted his chin in his best pimp style.

"Whoa. Nice!" Rikku nodded her approval. "You're gonna have your own posse of hos in no time. Better step off my turf, biotch."

"I'm all Pimp Daddy R's," Jude cooed, flouncing over to be arm-candy.

Chad was promptly reminded of the world of pain that could be dealt to him if he were to have his own ho's and was thinking of just that as he lightly set the hat back on Rikku's head. "Yo' turf's safe, Rikku. S'all good."

Or maybe not that last part unless you can coax Chad to let them out.

Do you see the problem with pure crack like that? IT SPREADS.
