Caritas - Saturday evening [Open]

GOB opened up late tonight because Tino was still cleaning up from last night.

In order to make sure that the kind of insanity that happened last night didn't happen again before the bouncer came into town, GOB did something drastic.

The zombie band didn't have their instruments tonight. They had chainsaws. And anyone who tried any funny business was going to have a zombie with a chainsaw on their--

Before GOB could finish the thought, the zombies had pretty much dismembered each other with their chainsaws.

GOB stared at his temporary security system in horror. Fine. If anyone acted up, he was going to throw zombies pieces at them.

[OOC: I don't know. But I'm around.]

The blue guy who'd named himself Percy McTaggart wanted the spotlight. If he had to share that spotlight with dismembered body parts, he was willing to make that sacrifice. Heck, they'd add to the performance. "Ladies, gentlemen," Percy peered out at the audience. "I'm not sure what you are, but pretend I included you, it's a good night here in wherever we are. It's a good night for drinks, a good night for dismemberment and hey, a good night for a song. Sit back, sip your Mai Tais and listen up. We might not have music, but you've got a crooner right here. The name's Percy McTaggart and this is a little song by some guy who's dead."

He cleared his throat and began to sing a capella in a Richard Cheese Sinatra style.

"It was late at night on the open road,
Speeding like a man on the run,
A lifetime spent preparing for the journey

He is closer now and the search is on,
Reading from a map in the mind,
Yes there's the ragged hill,
And there's the boat on the river. And when the rain came down,
He heard a wild dog howl,
There were voices in the night - "Don't do it!"
Voices out of sight - "Don't do it!
Too many men have failed before,
Whatever you do,

Don't pay the ferryman,
Don't even fix a price,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Until he gets you to the other side;" In the rolling mist, then he gets on board,
Now there'll be no turning back,
Beware that hooded old man at the rudder,
And then the lightning flashed, and the thunder roared,
And people calling out his name,
And dancing bones that jabbered and a-moaned
On the water. And then the ferryman said,
"There is trouble ahead,
So you must pay me now," - "Don't do it!"
"You must pay me now," - "Don't do it!"
And still that voice came from beyond,
"Whatever you do,

Don't pay the ferryman,
Don't even fix a price,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Until he gets you to the other side;

Don't pay - the ferryman!

"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen! I'll be here all night! Don't forget to tip your bartender."

Fifteen minutes and a couple of shots after his first song, Percy was back on the stage. "Folks, are you having a good night?" He didn't care if anyone was listening to him or if there was even anyone in the audience. Picking up a zombie arm, he decided to have a conversation with it. "How about you, kid? Having a good night? You seem at a loose end. Hah! I kill me. I don't know who killed you, but it could have been me. Who knows? For those of you out there who, like me, can't remember who the heck you are, here's a little song."

Yeah, no music again but with a hip Sinatra style.

"Daylight
See the dew on the sunflower
And a rose that is fading
Roses whither away
Like the sunflower
I yearn to turn my face to the dawn
I am waiting for the day...

Aren't we all? You know what I'm talking about.

Midnight, oh that midnight
Not a sound from the pavement, that sweet little pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Sing it with me, Handy!" he said to the zombie hand. He then addressed the rest of the body parts. "Come on, you know the tune! Tap along with me!

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
(hard to believe, I know)
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live agaaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain!

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen! Thank you, thank you! Try the veal!"

Okay, so the blue dude had suggested he go up here and sing a song. And hey, blue dude had been nice enough to buy him a drink, so why not?

I've been walkin' these streets so long
Singin' the same old song
I know every crack in these dirty sidewalks of Broadway
Where hustle's the name of the game
And nice guys get washed away like the snow and the rain
There's been a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me

Like a rhinestone cowboy
Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo
Like a rhinestone cowboy
Getting cards and letters from people I don't even know
And offers comin' over the phone

Well, I really don't mind the rain
And a smile can hide all the pain
But you're down when you're ridin' the train that's takin' the long way
And I dream of the things I'll do
With a subway token and a dollar tucked inside my shoe
There'll be a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me

Like a rhinestone cowboy
Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo
Rhinestone cowboy
Gettin' cards and letters from people I don't even know
And offers comin' over the phone

Like a rhinestone cowboy
Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo

Like a rhinestone cowboy
Gettin' card and letters from people I don't even know

There was whistling from the crowd. Percy McTaggart was impressed. "ATTA BOY, OFFICER XANDER!"

Sometime after waking up in his wife's office and not seeing her there, Fraser wandered out to try and find her.

He ended up in Caritas.

The poor, poor lad.

"That's a rude greeting," Fraser said. "Or is that a cultural greeting for you?"

Xander, who didn't think he was Xander, peered into the club cautiously before leading the way over to the bar. "This place looks a little weird, but I didn't see much else open," he said over his shoulder to the person he did think was Xander.

He eyed the bar itself and the bottles behind it, which at least seemed normal enough.

"Maybe," 'Bridge' agrees. "Probably would've been better if we'd gotten out earlier, though."
