Turtle & Canary; Thursday [ 11/08 ]

Turtle was there behind the counter of the store today. It was just a little difficult to see her behind all the paperwork. She had a lot to catch up on from the weekend, but that was fine. It suited her, and made for good cover.

Today's Squishy flavors: Red, Grape Judas, You Don't Want to Know.

Turtle & Canary is open.

"Well, what else was I going to do?" Turtle said, her voice starting out soft but then suddenly, as she finished, she felt a surge that wasn't about to be kept down. "Do...do you even realize what might have happened? If I wasn't where I was, when I was? If Miss Aly hadn't shown up? If...if...if she'd have come here instead of there, if she'd have looked for me first? I would be dead right now; I...I wouldn't have stood a chance! I...I..."

Dammit; there came the crying again. She was thinking she was done with that...

Deadpool flinched, looking down for a moment before attempting to give an awkward hug-pat.

"I--" He had nothing. No real words of comfort because it was just... his world. That was pretty damn common. "Sorry."

The counter made it pretty easy for Turtle to avoid the hug-pat without seeming too much like she was avoiding it. The fact that she stepped back and held up her hands in front of her, however...made it pretty clear. "Just..." She drew in a breath, not knowing what to say. "...Whatever. It's done, necessary precautions have been made, it's over."

Deadpool nodded silently, taking a small step back to give her space.

"Of course." He put down some money for the squishie.

Turtle stared at the counter quietly for a minute, knowing the money was there but not really seeing it, before placing her hand over it to pick it up, punched in a few keys on the cash register, and winced at the sound of the drawer opening, closing when she was done. She really, really didn't know what to say him right now, so she didn't even bother, she just kept her eyes down, her breath bated.

It was times like these where Deadpool remembered why it was easier when people didn't like him. They couldn't get hurt when he screwed everything up.

Which he would. Eventually.

"I'll see you in class," He replied with a manic sort of cheer that sounded forced even to someone as good at repressing as him. "Bye, Turtle."

He turned and left without the squishie.
