Turtle & Canary; Thursday [ 11/08 ]

Turtle was there behind the counter of the store today. It was just a little difficult to see her behind all the paperwork. She had a lot to catch up on from the weekend, but that was fine. It suited her, and made for good cover.

Today's Squishy flavors: Red, Grape Judas, You Don't Want to Know.

Kerrigan strode into the store with an irritated expression on her face. She stopped by the counter and asked, without preamble, "Carry any painkillers?"

Turtle had to grin a little bit at that one; the expression on the woman's face, but it was mostly the fact that it was Fandom. Of course they had painkillers. As necessary around here as groceries. "Yeah, we got some," she nodded and told her the handwavey aisle.

Shooting Turtle another look - exactly what was generating this stupendously horrible mood was still beyond Kerrigan's abilities to recognise - she stalked off towards the aisle in question, picked up a packet, and slammed it back on the counter.

Turtle blinked a little bit at the sheer force in which the lady presented her purchaces. "...Bad day?" she asked quickly, mostly reluctantly, and then immediately regretted it, thinking that she of all people right now should know better than to irritate angry, mean looking women she didn't know.

"I have a headache the size of a planet," Kerrigan growled, pressing her fingers to her forehead. "Just get that and don't ask me any stupid questions, will you?"

She knew that voice from somewhere...

Rikku wandered into the store on her lunch break, distracted by all the shiny objects, and then waved to Turtle. "Hiya! Can you help me with something?"

And then she remembered the whole, hadn't seen Turtle since the crazy lady, and fidgeted a little. "And, uh, are you okay and all?"

Considering she'd earlier thought that a teacher might cleave a knife through her skull...Turtle blinked at Rikku a bit before shaking her head and muttering, "Yeah, fine. What do you need help with, Rikku?"

Because, really, business was infinitely more important that her metnal and physical well being.

"Yeah. Sorry, didn't mean to ... bring it up and all that, just ... you know." Rikku gestured vaguely, which she kinda did whenever she sucked at finding words. "Glad you're okay. Wow, did that suck."

She fidgeted. Another thing she did a lot. "I, uh, I was just ... you know. Hoping you'd have ... do you ... are there computer-thingies, here? In the store, I mean. I don't know where to get one, exactly, and I kinda thought maybe, you know. You've got just about everything, right?"

"Just about," Turtle nodded, making a decision right there that she was just going to focus on helping Rikku as a customer and wasn't even going to touch the other stuff because she couldn't really afford to spend another few days in bed being afraid of her own damn shadow. "We've got all sorts of computers and laptops and accessories over in the electronics area. You know what you're looking for? I'm not much good with all that stuff myself, so if not, we could always go with the default stuff that'll give you all the basics."

"I, uh." Rikku blushed. "I ... don't know anything about them. I mean, I can check e-mail, and last week someone showed me this Internet thing? And Professor Squall totally let me crack the lid and play around with the wiring, but that's kinda ... doesn't help me know what I'm looking for or anything."

Turtle's grin was a little strained, as it was mostly an attempt to hide the fact that she was disappointed that she hadn't thought of that. "Luckily for you," she said, "I haven't quite picked up real estate. You're safe this time."

Annette walked in and headed straight for the counter. "Turtle, I was wondering if you could help me with something. I need to order some pink kittens."

And making a kitten be pink sounded very cruel indeed.

"No no, I mean of the plushie kind. I need like, a bunch of them. Can you get me some? Maybe at a wholesale discount price or something?" Not that Annette was cheap, but Trevor didn't deserve her hard earned money.

Which sucked, because Turtle was sort of all about the avoidy as much as possible, which was actually impossible, apparently, between class and work. She was way too easy to track down. That was highly problematic.

Plus, she didn't know exactly how to answer. She shrugged a shoulder. "Grapey?" she offered. "I don't know. Jamie really likes it."

Uninspired post is uninspired. XD Should get better once I get coffee. Annnnd also gone from 3 pm EST to 11;30 pm EST for work (and then weekend OFF, YAY).
