Caritas, Saturday evening

After figuring out that her message had apparently gotten where it needed to go or whatever because the animals finally stfu, Jaye had spent all day talking to Portalocity via website and phone. Thanks to the stupid holiday rush it was surprisingly hard to find a good portal where she needed to go for the price she wanted. Didn't it just figure? She finally managed to swing one for later at night, which she wasn't happy with, but it would give her time for a drink. You know, one last one where she could get one without a fake ID.

When she got there, she didn't see anyone at the bar, seeing as how Mr. Mayor was late again. So, Jaye decided she might as well just go behind the counter, where all the alcohol was. Maybe she could sneak some out.

"You knew I was going to order a Coke," Peter said. "I swear, it's like you're psychic. Did your purse tell you I was coming?"

Angela gave Peter a half-smile. It was good to see so many people she knew, despite her current mood. "Hi Peter! Anything nonvampiric and interesting going on?"

"Hey," Peter said. "Not that I've noticed. Then again I've been spending my time studying and making a point of avoiding stuff that might give my aunt a heart attack if she heard about it, so I'm living a boring life at the moment."

After talking to Angelus, Angela had not wanted to do anything but seethe over how angry she was at the vampire. But sulking in a motel room with her boyfriend had not proved cathartic, so she decided to take herself to Caritas. Alcohol was good for things like this, right?

She almost perked up when she saw who was behind the bar. "Hi Jaye."

"I just got in late last night," Angela explained. "And then I saw Angelus, and then I hid in my hotel room all day being antisocial. But I heard your broadcast!"

Rory wandered in, looking around for Angela and pausing when she saw who was behind the bar. "I can't believe you got to see him shirtless."

Angela waved. "Hey. You okay? The radio said you went to see Angelus, too."

She smiled a little as she approached, nodding. "Hi. Yeah. He is really good at messing with my head, and I just...will not be able to look Angel in the eye for awhile once this is all fixed." She paused. "'Too'? You saw him?"

Anakin came in a little while later and kissed her on the cheek before sliding onto a nearby barstool. "It turns out my son is an idiot," he said.

"There are way too many jokes to make about it being hereditary, so in the interest of not being predictable, I'll just ask why now," she replied, raising her brows.
