At 8:00, the doors to Caritas opened.

Unlike previous years, the host for the evening was not dressed up. He was still wearing his robes. Tino and the zombies were dressed in their fanciest clothes (which for the zombies meant "only several holes and very few patches of dirt).

Jolee had taken the time to get some cleaned-up T1-series utility droids to roam around with free champagne for anyone who wanted some. Tino was behind the bar to serve other kinds of drinks, but those were not free. The lounge had been replaced by a dance floor with a nearby buffet and there was a ball hovering above the stage ready to drop at midnight. That part was Jolee's doing. He was totally showing off his Force skills, but he would claim that it was some kind of machine doing it that he couldn't begin to understand and don't poke around looking for it because if you break it you'll be thrown out in a very impressive fashion and that's only if the utility droids don't get you first..

"Did I imagine a promise of the third long ago?" he asked, smirking a little.

"I don't remember it being a promise..."

"Maybe my memory is fuzzy," he offered.

"I think it is, now back to that shower or massage choice..."

He laughed, "What's your preference, since I'm not going to hear a song?"

"I might have to put some thought into this. There's no bad in a massage, but then there's the chance to see you dripping wet... There's a certain apppeal there," she confessed.

"It's like you read my mind," he grinned, thinking he really had the best girlfriend ever. "Of course, I was thinking more along the lines of you being soaking wet, but still."

"I think we both win there," she decided, thinking she was really liking this idea.

"And hopefully the hot water will last," he added, knowing they were apt to take their time.

"We may not notice if it doesn't," she pointed out.

"We may need to test that theory."

"I think we can pretty much count on it," Jaina said, rubbing a hand over his back.

"Now I'm glad we talked plans," John said. "Just like I'm glad they're playing a slow song."

"Me too," she told him. "Though if the next song's not slow, we may have to come up with a new dance plan."

"I'm going to vote for staying like this regardless of music change," he replied.

Jaina nodded, satisfied with that answer. "I'm good with that."

"It's not like anyone would dare say anything." John was pleased he wasn't going to have to display his spastic dance moves anytime soon. "Or that we'd care if they did."

"Though I'd like to see them try..." No, not really. Then they'd have to not be like this for as long as it took to tell whoever that it was a bad idea.

"Only if I can glower at them while we keep dancing," he added, because separating was not something he was interested in at the moment.

"Okay," she said immediately, stepping closer to him unthinkingly.

Holding her close while they ~~barely~~ danced, he asked, "Is New Year's a big thing for your people?"

"Depends on where you are, really. But our calendar year is completely messed up ~~and asking how will take a conference and much trolling of Wookieepedia~~, so I've only ever really viewed it as another day," she said. "Plus I haven't been anywhere that would celebrate it with a party in years."

"Sounds confusing," John said, not asking about the calendar thing because he was already disturbed enough by her time. "It's a very party-centric thing here. And I can't say I mind that this year."
