Caritas [Thursday evening]

When Robin wandered into Caritas on Thursday evening, Tino was nowhere to be found, but a note regarding his shunning of Robin was on the bar.

Evidently he'd discovered he'd have to work next Thursday for her.

[I am aroooooound but there is a new pet so replies might be a wee tad slow.]

"A hippo," she said, nodding again. "Happy Valentine's, baby! Did you know that they kill more people than lions?"

"I..did not," he said, frowning at her. "I don't think I can keep a hippopotamus at my apartment. Diefenbaker tends to get jealous easily."

"Maybe a dingo?" she offered. "Friend for Dief?"

"Did you watch the Discovery channel before you came to work?" Fraser asked.

"No, I read an article about cute animals that will kill you dead," she admitted.

"Ah, then, let's avoid a dingo for my dog as I'd like for him to stay alive," Fraser decided. "And any other animals that might kill me. I'd also like to stay alive."

"I do prefer you this way. I suppose that means I also can't interest you in a Japanese giant hornet?" Robin made a face. "I'm going to have nightmares of the YouTube video I watched on those. I'm warning you now. I'll wake up in the middle of the night freaking out about the bees being killed and you'll need to be reassuring and check the apartment for hornets, okay?"

Fraser...gaped. "I've no trouble being reassuring and protective from giant hornets but...wow."

"You don't know. You didn't watch it," she said, shaking her head. "These things are as big as your thumb."

"Honey, why did you watch it if you knew it was possibly going to give you nightmares?" Fraser asked curiously.

"Do you know what George Mallory said when asked why he wanted to climb Mount Everest?" Robin replied.

Fraser frowned and tried to recall what he'd said. "Yes, but that still doesn't make sense."

"I clicked because it was there," she said, shrugging. "It's like telling me not to think of pink elephants."

"I'll protect you from the Japanese giant hornets," he promised and smiled at her. "They'll have to attempt to go through me before they get to you."

"They can shoot acid that will melt your eyes," she informed him. "That's very brave of you."

"I've been shot before," he reminded her. "A few times. I'd get shot again if it meant you were safe."

"Even by hornet-acid?" she asked, smiling softly at that.

"Better me than you," he said, nodding. "I've been shot three times, a fourth won't make a difference to me and you'd be safe."

That would be Robin leaning across the bar, grabbing hold of his tie to pull him in slightly, and kissing him. Hard.

She didn't like the PDAs that much, but sometimes situations called for it.

She caught him slightly by surprise only because, after she'd snagged his tie, he'd picked up on what she was going to do and responded only slightly slowly but making up for it quickly by returning her kiss with equal fervor.

He covered the hand on his tie with his briefly, squeezed once and let go before focusing everything on kissing her.

"No one ever offered to take a bullet for me," she mumbled against his lips. "Or hornet acid."

"It would be worth it," he said and meant it. "I wouldn't even think twice. I want you to be safe forever."

Robin kissed him again.

"...I hate that Tino hates me. So much. "

"You could always try and make things up to him at a later date," Fraser suggested before kissing her again. He really didn't quite get why she'd said that now but he was always good for helpful advice.

"He won't stay for me tonight so I can leave early, though," she murmured.
