Caritas - Friday [4/18]

This was just one of those nights where Jolee didn't know why he had done this to his life. Tino was wearing an American flag pin and wouldn't stop bugging him about wearing one, too. "Knock it off. I'm not even from your galaxy, let alone your country," Jolee said.

But Tino persisted. Eventually Jolee would find out that somebody left a bottle of maple syrup out and Tino decided to try chugging the rest of it. At least it explained why Tino was so hyper.

[OOC: If you mod Tino, please mention him being on a patriotic sugar high. He has extra flag pins to pass out if you want to have those pushed on you.]

"Again?" Charlotte's head tilted and she blinked at Jolee in confusion for a moment.

"Oh! You don't mean that cranky fellow that was in here last week, do you? Believe me, we're not associated; he didn't even want anything to do with me!"

"You came in, then other people followed. I just want to make sure you're not becoming a herald for other people," Jolee said.

Charlotte's eyes went a little wide. "Not that I'm aware of," she said, with an honest-to-goodness, hand-over-heart sort of tone, although her head did swivel a little to glance over her shoulder toward the door.

"If anyone else shows up, I'll know you were lying," Jolee said. "So, what can we get you tonight?"

Charlotte gave a little scrunched-up look of disagreement with that theory for a moment before letting it go with a sigh. "A Cosmo, as usual, and tell Tino that he can go ahead and make it as strong as I think he was the other night because I actually need it today."

"Ti- AH!" Jolee yelled as Tino bounced next to him, Cosmo already prepared and on the bar. There was a very good chance it was extremely strong. Jolee could swear it was so strong he sensed a life reading emanating from it.

"Remind me to never let him have sugar, okay?"

"Why?" Charlotte asked, eyes wide again. "Is he a diabetic?"

"No, just insane," Jolee asked. "He drank a bottle of syrup tonight. I can't begin to understand why. I really don't want to understand why, either."

"Like, maple syrup?"

"Yes," Jolee said. "I only employ him, I don't explain him."

"Ew!"

And that, really, summed it up perfectly for Charlotte.

"I completely agree," Jolee said. "I do see that he got you with the pin. Sorry about that, but I take no responsibility for him, either."

"Oh, no!" Charlotte smiled, shaking her head and waving a hand dismissively. "Don't apologize! I kind of like it, actually; it's cute! Very patriotic."

Which could come in handy if there were any future presidents on her dating horizon, after all.

"Just don't let Tino hear you say that," Jolee said. "He'll take it as encouragement."

Charlotte nodded gravely. "I'll definitely keep it quiet, don't worry. I support the idea, but I respect your position as proprietor and how the whole patriotic thing really doesn't go much with the theme you have going here..."

As to what theme that was, Charlotte wasn't sure, because she didn't know if she'd really classify dead, rotting entertainment as a theme, per say.

"I appreciate it," Jolee said. "I don't want anything to mess with 'grumpy old man makes people listen to music by dead guys.'"

"Especially since it works for you so well," Charlotte enthused with a nod and a little grin before sipping her drink.

"Thank you," Jolee said. "I work hard to cultivate this image, so it's ncie to see that it's appreciated."

"Although," Charlotte said, pausing a bit for a drink and to decide if she dared to venture there, "I still don't think you're that grumpy."

"I also like spreading disinformation," Jolee said. "People see me being nice to you, then they're more surprised when I yell at them to get off my lawn."

Charlotte chuckled a little at that. "But you will tell me when you start getting cats, right? The cats will be such a big step."

"Hmph. I spent twenty years with Wookiees. I'm staying away from anything with fur from now on," Jolee said. "My sinuses still haven't recovered."

"...Wookies?" Charlotte asked, eyebrows shifting in a frown. "Wait. No. Better question first. Do I want to know?"

"Tall guys, live in trees, covered head to toe in fur," Jolee said. "They're friendly enough most of the time. But if you make them mad, they might rip your arms off. Also, they don't bathe enough."

Charlotte's nose wrinkled. Hairy guys who didn't bathe were definitely very low on her list of appealing attributes, that was for sure. "And you lived with them how long, you said? Twenty years?"
