He paused, contemplating the possibility of apologizing yet again, but he brushed it aside quickly enough. "Tequila might be a good bet," he replied, after a few seconds.

He nodded.

"Yeah."

"So... I noticed you have a baby with you. In a bar."

"And so... baby inna bar." Wade nodded slowly. "What's her name?"

Nate glanced from the drink to the baby to Wade and back. "I've been working on it."

Not that he hadn't been calling her something in his head, but that was something else than... naming. Naming held some significance.

Nate scratched the back of his head. "I've been thinking about naming her Janice."

That was mildly less of a mock than he'd expected. "I'm glad you approve," he said, dryly, and took a drink of his root beer.

"Not yet." The baby was being quiet. Ish. For her standards. Which was a severe relief. "I'm stocking up on formula."
