Kaylee did not actually have anything to keep her hands busy today. So, she was restlessly tapping her fingers along the counter, and finally settled on the idea of shining up her tools.

So that was what she'd be doing today, since she didn't have nothing to work on. She'd have to fix that.

"Totally fine, all magically healed up," he smiled. "Must've been successful since things cleared up around here."

"Well, I didn't do too much," she said modestly. "An' you look good for a guy who spent a chunk of time in the clinic."

He couldn't help the look come hither look he gave her it was his natural reaction to pretty girls.

Kaylee blushed, looking down at the ball polisher. "Yeah? You should see me when I try to look good," she replied, grinning.

"There's better?" Lucas tapped his finger on his chin as if to consider how that would work. "I don't think it's possible."

"Well ain't you full of flattery," Kaylee giggled. "Not that I mind, really. Or at all."

Kaylee was smooooooth. Really.

Lucas laughed. "I might've heard that once or twice. But I promise I only speak the truth."

He'll even tell you if he cheats. He's good like that.

"Me too," Kaylee said, nodding wisely. "It's the best policy. 'Specially when it makes cute boys say nice things 'bout me."

"It's not hard to say nice things to nice girls," Lucas said, smiling. "Reminds me of this quote actually, 'In every man's heart there is a secret nerve that answers to the vibrations of beauty.'"

Kaylee looked suitably impressed. No one she knew ever said stuff like that. "That's beautiful. Who said it?"

"In the tradition of almost all great quotes, some dude who died hundreds of years before you were born, Christopher Morley," Lucas replied.

"Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds, I bet, since I won't even be born until 2497," she pointed out.

"So, I'm either really old or you're really young." Time travel was painful to think about.

"Well, since I'm crashing your century, prolly just easier to think of it as me being negative 489?" she suggested. "Or, you know, sixteen."

"Guess that makes me around 506 your time," Lucas said after thinking for a really long time about that math.

"Older men are hot," Kaylee said, perfectly straight-faced before giggling.

"And hopefully well-preserved," Lucas said. "Otherwise that's an interesting kink there."

Kaylee wrinkled her nose. "Very well-preserved. I don't know nothin' about that particular kink."

Even if Kaylee being a 'lady' was kind of a stretch.

"Oh, of course not," Lucas said quickly with a dorky grin. "Those are things to be discovered after long, arduous affairs."

Kaylee nodded, clearly trying not to laugh. "'xactly. Wouldn't be right to just give up all my secrets without any work involved."

"You know, there's something about you," Lucas squinted at her. "I'm just not sure what it is yet. Maybe I'll figure it out when I come back for my ball polisher."

"Yeah, it shouldn't take too long," Kaylee said, blushing as she took another look at the ball polisher. "By the time I'm done with it, it'll work better than before. You'll have the shiniest balls of anyone on the island. Er, Wonders will, anyway."
