Caritas, Saturday evening

Jaye was at the bar mostly on time. The mostly was because she was fully set to be late when she was chased down by wee marauding pirates. Considering they were only six inches tall, it shouldn't have been anything to be afraid of, but when anything swarmed at you like they did, you'd better run.

So she was there on time, and pirateless, save for the one that had somehow managed to hitch a ride on her purse, and started pillaging through it as soon as she set it down.

Ned didn't usually drink. He didn't ever think he'd been in a bar but there was a first time for everything and today was weird and he was worried so he was there.

And, of course, the crazy insane girl was there.

Sigh.

"Yes, I kind of live here," he said, making a face at her. "Why wouldn't I be here?"

"I don't know," she shrugged. "Maybe you got expelled or something."

"I'm surprised you haven't gotten arrested," he said, taking a seat on a stool and keeping his hands tucked under his arms.

"Not lately. Are you gonna start drinking or what?"

Because he had no idea what the names were.

"Somewhat strong," Ned amended. "Not so strong that you're going to have to call someone to drag me out of here, please."

She went to put together a vodka cranberry, which was the easiest thing ever and wouldn't cause any embarrassing scenes. "Tah dah," she said, sliding it over.

"Thanks," he said, deciding to be nice even though she was insane. "Why are you working at a bar?"

"Because I'd be here every week anyway and I might as well get paid for it," she shrugged.

"Ah." Well, he couldn't fault her logic. "Did you tell your friend Aaron about me?"

"Brother. And no. He'd think I was nuts," Jaye said. "Better to keep him nice and in the dark till he visits and there's trauma."
