Turtle and Canary, Monday (7/21)

Pirates. Pretty frickin' sweet. Seriously, Fandom never got old.

Since his entire wardrobe (which, yes, still consisted almost entirely of identical blue tunics) had transformed into pirate clothes yesterday, Sokka was dressed like a pirate. And... kinda liking it, actually.

He spent some time trying on some of the pirate clothes on the racks in the store, until he found some that he liked, and then packed them all into a cardboard box. After taping the box shut, he wrote on it in big letters "DEAR FANDOM: PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THESE BACK TO NORMAL" and wrapped it in aluminum foil.

Today's Squishy flavors: Grog, SCUMM, Grape Judas

Maybe the birds of the week before had put her in mind of it, but Ella had decided to actually see about getting the parrot she had wanted so long before, and so she was at Turtle & Canary.

"Hello," she said to the boy behind the counter. "Who would I talk to about a pecial order?"

She tugged at her bodice as she spoke. The pirate clothes were just a wee bit more revealing than her norm.

Noticing the blush made Ella blush too, and she crossed her arms higher on her chest than was natural. "A parrot," she said. "As a pet, I mean. I used to be Turtle's roommate and we talked about it then, but I kept forgetting to actually put in the request at the store."

"Not," she added, after more thought, "a large parrot."

"Small is probably better for a dorm room," she decided. "Though I'm not so certain. Do you think my roommate's cat would be more likely to eat a small one?"

"Of course it should talk."

"Not," Ella said dismissively. "More dumb than anything, though, so it might decide to make friends and be a little too rough for a bird. Do you know Rikku? her cat."

"Do parakeets talk?" she asked.

"Petey seems like he'll be distracted easily," Ella had to agree. "And the bird can fly, too, so it has that advantage."

She leaned forward, inspecting the page closely. "This one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-throated_Macaw)," she finally said, tapping her finger against an image. "I like the way it looks best, and it says it will learn to talk."

"I hope not, poor bird," Ella said, looking anxious as she filled out the paperwork as requested. "I know it has to live in a cage, but that's different from wishing weeks on a ship for it."

She frowned. "Would it be a problem if the island moved again, do you think?"

Ella frowned. "That ... makes no sense," she decided. "Though if it means my pet gets here faster, I suppose it's a good thing."

"I just keep hoping it will," Ella sighed. "Thank you for helping me, Sokka."

After lifting cinderblocks all morning (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2973597.html?thread=126910109#t126910109) (sort of), Turtle was in desperate need of a Squishy to quench her exhaustion. She dragged herself into the store, a bit dramatically, and leaned on the SquishyBot as she closed her eyes and muttered, "The biggest one you got, Bob, of..."

Turtle opened her eyes to see today's flavors.

Her face turned a little green.

"Nevermind."

She got a soda from one of the coolers. "Hey Sokka."

"Oh, yeah, right," Turtle said, rolling her eyes. "So I can get addicted to my own product and lose money because of it. No thanks."

"Too good," Turtle countered. "Which is great for customers, because it keeps bringing them back, but it'll only mean disaster if I try it and get addicted to it. It's a tough job, but someone's got to abstain."

"Yeah," Turtle countered, "because you don't have to look at the budget for covering employee Squishies."

"But Jamie drinks them, too," Turtle reminded him. "And Jamie? Can drink a lot especially since there can be a lot of him."
