Millie was humming rather cheerfully as she worked around the store this morning. Part of it might be a bit of whistling in the dark as she knew she would miss some of the leaving students quite a bit.

But there would be new ones coming in soon and she was trying to think of that instead.

She was also going to have to put up a help wanted sign soon as she was down to only two employees.

Never fear, milady! Fiyero was on his way to solve her working woes.

...well, he'll solve your woes once he gets his fingertip out of his mouth. He peered into the store before walking in and glancing about for employees -- or the manager, as it were.

"...hello?"

Millie smiled cheerfully at him. "Hello! May I help you?"

He hesitated.

"Ah, yes. My son -- suggested you might need a bit of help here."

"Your son?" Millie said curiously.

He smiled a little sheepishly.

"Liir Thropp? He works here as well."

"Liir!" Millie exclaimed happily. "Oh, he's a wonderful person! I'm so lucky to have him here. You know he cooks things for the store for each of his shifts and almost always brings something special for me. And yes, I do have shifts open and Goddess, if you're half as good a worker as he, I'd be pleased to have you!"

He would never get used to people praising a son he'd just recently found out that he had.

"Ah, I am not surprised that he brings things for you -- he's been feeding myself and Geoffrey for some time, now." And he smiled just a little. "I will endeavor to be at least half as hard a worker as he is, I assure you."

"Then I would be most pleased to have you working for me," Millie said with a grin.

Fiyero nodded.

"Ah, what days do you need the most help? I imagine I'll be taking the shifts you give me, of course, but for reference."

"Any day except Monday and Friday," Millie said. "I'm hoping to get a couple of college students to take over a day or two, but you're welcome to what you want."

"I'll certainly take at least Wednesday and Saturday...and other days as you'd like, of course." Beggars couldn't be choosers.

"Wednesday and Saturday would be lovely to start," Millie said with a smile. "And if I need you to do more days I'll let you know. Can you start this Saturday or would that be too soon?"

Fiyero grinned slightly. "This Saturday's just fine, thanks. I'll definitely be here. Early, even! Er, once you tell me what time I ought to come in."

"Oh I like to have the store open from about 10-5PM," Millie told him, "But I can be rather flexible. And I live in the apartment above the store so I'm usually around should you need to be late or leave early."

"That's very flexible of you," he approved, "So I'll be here on Saturday at 10. I can't see a reason for me to ever have to leave early, but I'm sure that something might come up eventually." Hopefully not.

"One never knows, but I feel it is always good to have the option," she said with her characteristic grin. "Here, let me handwavily show you around."

He nodded, not mentioning he'd at least taken a look around when he'd been here on his second day of being in town.

Because that might lead to telling her about Liir fainting, and he really was trying to avoid that topic. "Thanks."

"Oh, you're most welcome. I do love my students, but it will be nice to have another adult working at the store from time to time."

"Adult in loose terms, perhaps," he grinned, shaking his head.

"Joking." Just so they were clear.

She laughed. "I'm barely older than the students myself and my guardian would be quick to say I was hardly an adult."

"Ah, then we're both in the same boat. I'm ... not from the same time as Liir." Hopefully that much had been obvious.

"Well, you hardly looked old enough, but some of the people here are from quite different worlds and age differently as well," she explained. "I didn't like to assume."

He nodded. "As far as I know, he hasn't been born yet." Unless Elphaba was pregnant and neither of them knew.

....hmm.

Millie nodded. "This must be very... difficult for you then."

"It makes for an interesting situation," he mused.

"But ... ah, well. I suppose it could be worse."
