The Boards - Tuesday - REHEARSAL - 9/16

It was a beautiful morning, pleasantly crisp and yet still warm enough that he probably shouldn't have been wearing his massive black coat (not that that ever stopped him), and thus it was with a faint uneven smile that Geoffrey opened the door for rehearsals for the day.

[ocd coming up!] [...*jedi mind trick* it always said Tuesday]

So, Amber might not have been exactly ready, and being that her mind had been rather occupied with things that were both troubling and exciting in an oh my god sort of way, she may not have put enough snarky spark in her lines as the true Bastiana.

Currently she was speaking with the messenger and inquiring after Baldovino.

"He set up his bills here in Messina and challenge Cupid at the flight; and my uncle's fool," Amber snorted out a sarcastic chuckle, "reading the challenge, subscribed for Cupid, and challenged him at the bird-bolt. I pray you, how many hath he killed and eaten in these wars? But how many hath
he killed? for indeed I promised to eat all of his killing."

[Geoffrey is more than welcome to work with Amber, if he likes!]

G'Kar chose a scene to work through, and began pacing as he spoke, trying to get a feel for the characters.

No, no; we will hold it as a dream till it appear
itself: but I will acquaint my daughter withal,

He paused for a moment, as he suddenly thought of something - or someone rather - before continuing.

that she may be the better prepared for an answer,
if peradventure this be true. Go you and tell her of it.

He continued on for the rest of the passage...

Cousins, you know what you have to do. O, I cry you
mercy, friend; go you with me, and I will use your
skill. Good cousin, have a care this busy time.

He looked over at Geoffrey when he was done. "I think a bit more work is in order."

Robin could pretty much take it easy this act. All he had to do was be there.

Although his mood was fairly good and his lines were practically entirely memorized, Cal's mind was a little on the opening of the exhibit tomorrow, but he tried not to let it show as he read through his lines, trying his best to adopt a sort of airy demeanor of pompous good will. Thanks to Baker & Inglis, he knew he could do pompous. It was just conveying that annoying sense of wanting to help everyone without being overly annoying himself that he found tricky.

"What need the bridge much broader than the flood?" He pressed a thoughtful hand to his chin, eyes narrowed, and then a snap of his fingers. "The fairest grant is the necessity.
Look, what will serve is fit: 'tis once, thou lovest,
And I," oh-so-important, "will fit thee with the remedy.
I know we shall have revelling to-night:
I will assume thy part in some disguise
And tell fair Hero I am Claudio,
And in her bosom I'll unclasp my heart
And..."

A bit of a struggle to remember the exact lines here, but, ironically, his earlier conversation and thinking about lines written on certain body parts actually helped, ""...take her hearing prisoner with the force
And strong encounter of my amorous," a nice little twitter of his hand, and then a laugh, as he decided that he needed to make Don Sancho prestigious, not gay, "tale:
Then after to her father will I break;
And the conclusion is, she shall be thine.
In practise let us put it presently."

His study of his lines during work yesterday had paid off and Seregil found the words coming easily as he concentrated at the end of the first scene, where Baldonvino dug himself in deep.

"That a woman conceived me, I thank her; that she
brought me up, I likewise give her most humble
thanks: but that I will have a recheat winded in my
forehead, or hang my bugle in an invisible baldrick,
all women shall pardon me. Because I will not do
them the wrong to mistrust any, I will do myself the
right to trust none; and the fine is, for the which
I may go the finer, I will live a bachelor.

"O, my lord," Ronan began, his voice pitched to be earnest,
"When you went onward on this ended action,
I look'd upon her with a soldier's eye,
That liked, but had a rougher task in hand
Than to drive liking to the name of love:
"

He turned away, looking out over the 'audience', letting instinct guide his blocking for the moment. They could work out the details later.

"But now I am return'd," he continued, almost shyly, "and that war-thoughts
Have left their places vacant, in their rooms
Come thronging soft and delicate desires,
All prompting me how fair young Hero is,
Saying, I liked her ere I went to wars.
"

As he finished, he smiled softly, trying to bring the shyness of the last few lines through honestly; for all he was a decorated war hero, here he shared something new with his sworn lord, a new area where he required advice.

[Open for rehearsal work with anyone, if anyone wants to SP over the next couple of days. :D ]

Amber fell into a chair. She was so sore from her training with Murdock this morning, that she winced a little when she sat down. Uncapping a water bottle, she took a sip and pretended to read over her script. She totally wasn't resting her eyes or anything, nope.

Hinata had all of one line to rehearse for in Act 1, of which she was glad, and so settled herself in a chair, just off to the side, and contented herself with studying her script and listening to the others practice.

Robin was using his off time to read the script some more.

Once scene one was finished, Cal could just relax for the other acts, though he was (mostly) following along with the script.

Murdock was leaning in the doorway, just watching. Of course he knew the play was just getting started, even without all the radio bits, and he even knew a few people in it.

Mostly, he was just nosy curious and checking it all out.

And then suddenly Gabriel was there. Well, he'd probably just walked in through the door, but very quietly. He nodded at Geoffery.
