Ella would have been grumbly about missing most of the carnival in favor of work -- she was going to take a long lunch break to look around, anyhow -- but she set that aside in favor of a different irritation when she got to the diner.

"Why is everything covered with bacon?"

The kitchen staff just shrugged.

Ella sighed and set to gathering the bacon off the tables, placing it on enormous platters and hoping the store's fans would blow the scent into the street and draw in customers.

Which, in turn, was inspired by the immense bacon craving I'd had over the weekend. ;) I just added a subscription to the Bacon Today (http://bacontoday.com/) blog to my Google Reader feed. Because A BLOG ALL ABOUT BACON.
