The Park, Saturday Afternoon

The day was gorgeous - sunny and crisp and cool, but not so cool that people would need coats or sweaters. There were some discrete space heaters set up for those who had chosen not to wear sleeves with their formalwear.

A light breeze was there to lift hair that wasn't pinned or sprayed into position. Birds sang. Chairs were set up, divided by a long center aisle. There was even a small section towards the front with little piles of nuts and bottles of rum - Vala and Barney had both done radio at one time or another, plus it just made sense to make nice to the squirrels.

The wedding party had yet to take their places, so the atmosphere was open and relaxed, if a bit anticipatory.

Roy had donned his dress uniform once he'd gotten back from the station, in time to accompany Aly to the wedding.

"You almost look pleased," he murmured to Aly.

"Almost?" she asked. "I'll have to work on that."

He chuckled and rested his hand on the small of her back. "I was trying to be subtle."

"I didn't know you knew the meaning of subtle," she teased.

"Only when it suits me," he smirked at her.

Aly rolled her eyes. "If you say so."

"Which side do you want to sit?" he pretended to not notice the eyerolling.

"Vala's side," Aly said automatically.

"She is prettiest," Roy agreed casually, steering them towards that side of the chairs.

"That's because she's the bride," Aly informed him.

"I don't generally appreciate grooms," he agreed as he took his seat.

"It's your loss," she teased.

"No," he shook his head. "It really isn't."

Aly chuckled. "I think it's a matter or appreciating beauty everywhere."

"I appreciate the beauty of women everywhere," Roy said importantly. "I think that's what matters."

She raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh."

He glanced at her. "You don't believe me?"

"That's not the question at all," Aly said, looking amused.

"Then what is the question?" he asked, playing dumb.

"Your appreciation of beauty," she teased.

He raised an eyebrow. "And what is wrong with my appreciation?" he asked, not feeling like he needed to remind her that he thought her beautiful.

"It's varied and wide," she said.

"And that's a bad thing?" he asked, leaning back in his chair while he very openly took his time to look her up and down.

"Only if you think wide applies to me," she laughed.

"Maybe wider," he teased, reaching up to brush the back of her neck soothingly.
