Monthly Market - The Park, Saturday Afternoon

Once again, the market crew had gone in and set up booths all over the park, decorating them in cheerful ways and putting down seats for those who might be tired from browsing all the wares. It was a little chilly, so a lot of the booths were wrapped up a little more to shield from any wind that might make it worse. The Monthly Market was open again.

"Ah, 'she' is it?" he grinned back. "A fine gift for a lady to be sure."

"Yah," he nodded back with a grin. "She's a dog right now though. Should turn back soon."

Well, that was a strange thing to say about one's lady. "Perhaps a collar then?"

Fandom was a strange place.

He frowned a little. "No. I don't think she'd like that very much."

Not to mention that she'd probably kick his butt once she returned to normal.

"Just ribbons will be fine."

Silk grinned teasingly. "Are you sure? I can get you some very nice ones."

He frowned again and eyed the guy.

"No," he repeated a bit more firmly. "No collars."

She might be a dog, but she was still his girlfriend and no way was he going to do that to her.

No one understood his humor. "Just the ribbons then. May I ask, what is, a bandanna?"

"It's kinda like a big hankie. Only they're useful for other things. And colorful," he added with a grin.

"I wish I had one on me, then I'd show ya."

Right off the top of his head, Silk could think of several uses for such a thing. It was amazing no one had thought of it before. "Interesting."

"Oh yah," he nodded. "Like that kid on that classic book cover. You know? The kid walks around with a pole and his things tied up in a bandana around it?"

He's not thinking that Silk might not be from the same world as him and may not have any idea of what he's talking about.

Which was a testament to how well Silk had observed the fashions of this world and altered his wardrobe to match.

"I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that book. I'm from another world you see, so many of your ways are strange to me."

"Oh. Right. I forget about that sometimes. I get wrapped up in my own world, you see."

And not necessarily in the world he's actually from. There's a whole galaxy in his head.

"Most of us are." Silk nodded sagely. "It does sound like a vastly useful invention."

"Oh it is," he grinned. "If you're here next month, I'll bring one by for ya."

"I certainly hope to be. This place has proven to be most ~~profitable~~ fascinating."

"Definitely! Something interestin' nearly every day. How much do I owe you?" he asked, pulling out his wallet.

Ah yes, the peculiar paper money. Silk offered a price that was a bit more than the ribbons were worth.

Murdock either didn't notice or didn't care. He just handed it over. Money isn't something he counts as a high priority.

"Thanks dude! I'll definitely stop by if you're here again."

That threw the man for a moment. He might have seemed slightly disappointed as he took the money, and thanked Murdock for his custom. What was the fun in it if they didn't haggle?
